It's not really about pressure, but depending on how the internal passages are configured it may or may not need that much pressure to achieve the necessary flow. Otherwise being on the low end is really preferred as long as it has the necessary flow if you want to avoid blowing oil out either end.

Well I can say that on the Borg Warner EFR turbo that I have already has an integral orifice included in the center housing just as they claim. Just mentioning it because people question it a lot still. With super high oil pressure it may possibly need a regulator to back it down some, but I doubt that it needs anything more than that at the most. I still need to look into it more when the time comes.

50,000+ kms and 7 years on my stock greddy with restricted oil feed line and still no smoking. Fingers crossed that I did not just jinx this when I fire it up this spring Oil is fed from a filter neck adapter.

Man you are lucky. You are the first I know of to make it that long. But maybe you are not double clutching like you should be.

1) It is a non-DD street driven application so it is not exposed to prolonged periods of near redlining. I consider that the main reason why I've had such a successful life with this turbo not to mention I always let it warm up prior to hard driving, it has never seen a CAT, and I live in a relatively cool environment.

2) The kit was a very late production (bought in late 2010 and discontinued shortly after), brand new kit installed at approx 30,000kms on the odometer (very low) and there is only approx 80,500kms (still decently low) so it has only experienced a healthy engine. Not sure if Greddy made any minor tweaks to this kit from the start of production to the end but by the time I installed mine all of the fixes and "kwerks" had already been worked out by previous users and from brand new this kit has been operating as it should have been originally designed by Greddy.

Can you please elaborate on why double clutching would affect oil supply to turbo?

My first Greddy lasted 80,000 kms and was still ok before I had it upgraded . Same thing as you , just a restrictor.

I was just joking about double clutching. And yeah a modern turbo should last at least 100,000 miles IMO.
