That is the biggest load of bullshit I have ever read.
Lol that is bull what do we look like buying something that wont fit?? Really

This thread is a classic example of what will inevitably go wrong in this situation . All the ingredients for problems are there :

A first off kit that is a major modification .
A supplier expecting too much from the customer .
An inexperienced installer
A customer unaware of the complexity and difficulty of undertaking such an exercise .

I see faults on both sides here . Hopefully both side have learnt something from the exercise.

True, I am inexperienced with forced induction, but I am not new to working on cars. True, I was not prepared for the undertaking, but I made an effort to ask questions going in, and along the way. I ultimately did get the kit installed and drivable, even with the myriad of issues, so I claim some success there. My primary complaint is the dishonesty. By his own admission he had to change things, things I specifically requested otherwise, because he had not done a full low-mount before and could not foresee the issues until he was right on top of them. Elliot led me to believe, before making any payment, that he had done this setup before. Had he been honest with me I would not be so bitter about all the problems. It would have given me a chance to decide whether I wanted his first attempt to be at my expense and if I would be up to the task of resolving issues that would come up. Had I known this going in I would definitely share responsibility. The fact of the matter is, had I known this prior to ordering I would not have gone through with it.

This is from February:
"With the low mount we always put the o2 bungs( two of them) in the downpipe."

This is from May:
"Are you putting two O2 sensor bungs on the downpipe?"
"Just one for the stock o2. You will not get an accurate reading from any o2 sensor in the downpipe on a low mount kit."

Also from May:
"The real problem is you are the first one to get a full low mount kit, and I've just been trying to vastly improve on everything, and there are a lot of things I can't forsee until I am right on top of them. "

OK - I can see why that would upset you - fair enough .

However - there is a culture on this forum (probably all forums) to blame the vendor for anything that goes wrong with a modification such as this . The reality is that this isn't the 2000th kit being installed and every little detail is not worked out . If you want something that will just bolt on without issue you have the wrong car .

I ask this question ... has anyone on this forum EVER fitted a turbo/SC kit that was bolt on and trouble free ??????
I have not heard of one yet ... does that tell you anything ?

This much I have learned from this experience. But I maintain, the primary reason I am bitter is the dishonesty, tho I still want the remaining items fixed. I freely admit I'm a noob with this. I told this to Elliot before I placed the order. I started asking him questions a month before I ordered. The day I ordered we had a lengthy phone discussion with me asking for clarifications before handing out my credit card number. He was well aware of my experience level. I wanted to make sure I could keep the OMP and stock battery, what to expect for timeframe and the kit in general, that he had experience building low-mount or RX8, what I would need in addition to the kit, etc. At that time he said all I should need would be AFR and boost gauges, preferably a fuel pressure gauge, engine mgmt and upgraded clutch. He said everything else would be included. He made no mention of any other modifications I should be prepared for. The first he started mentioning additional modifications was a month after I ordered, starting with removal of the subframe brace.

My biggest mistake was that I was too trusting of the vendor. Shame on me.

And before my last post gets misinterpreted, no I don't blame Elliot for my inexperience. It's simpy a reference to the fact that I made an attemtp to research before diving in.

The dishonesty I can understand being pissed about, but they can't hold everyones hand through each kit. Classic case of buyer beware, you didn't do your due diligence. Shame you learned the hard way, but I hope they fix the issue with the Wastegate for sure that is bs.

I thought a general rule of thumb was approximately 18 inches from the exhaust port was standard for o2 sensor placement, since there is a turbo involved would you do 18 inches after the turbo? I don't understand how a low mount turbo will cause you to get incorrect readings from a wideband o2?

My understanding is the turbulence close to the turbo interferes with the reading under boost.

My intent in that post was to show the progression of contradiction. First he says he puts 2 bungs in the downpipe in ALL his low-mount kits. Then he says he can only do 1 bung for stock sensor, so did ALL the others just live with bad readings? Oh wait, there are NO others because then he says this is the first low-mount he has built.

Looks like intake and IC plumbing (one of my gripes) has gotten better. What I received is in the first photo. The second photo is the latest photo on Turblown's website.

Looks like he incorporated the fixes we worked thru on mine. With the addition of the fixed underbrace you should be in good shape. Wish mine turned out like that

Yeah that looks like your kit. I don't think that filter is going to fit and a custom cross member brace will definitely be needed I think. The passenger side charge pipe is going to be fun to install.

Well, maybe not GOOD shape, but maybe better off to start. At least there are things you won't have to deal with right out of the gate. I'll wait for your install report.

Isn't that what you were wanting to do? Take your MAF out of the engine bay. You still planning on that?

My install report will not be 100% valid. I am doing the install at the same time as an engine change along with a whole bunch of other stuff.

Yeah, mine is already extended actually. It's easy enough to do, so far there have not been any issues with doing it.

I couldn't make out from the photo, but do you know what is being used for IAT sensor?

The stock MAF I assume for now. I do believe Hoss-05 is planning on relocating the wires from the MAF to a GM IAT sensor located before the TB though.
