The Turblown Low Mount Turbo System

Thanks for sharing Slash and after my experience with Turblown I can't say that I'm surprised and sadly I won't be surprised if there are similar posts like yours in the future. I have never understood taking money on kits, giving deadlines, and then constantly passing those deadlines up again only to give the customer more deadlines. I just don't it. Take money for the kit, build it, and then ship the damn thing. Then repeat the cycle again. And if problems arise, address them and try and help your customer out.
And who are these mystery people running the low mount kits?

I would like to know myself. According to Elliot they've been out there for years, but wait, by his own words mine was the first full one he built, how is that possible??? For sure I know the kit pictured on his site is the one sitting in my garage...

It sucks you are selling it but I know after what you spent you are deflated and expected a kit that could be installed relatively easily. I do think the kit is capable and Elliot surely has skills but man........We shall see how our install of this kit goes and what problems we run into and how those problems are dealt with.

Bingo. This is why I say I just don't feel like working on it anymore. As Team posted, there is something more. I just held back with negative comments previously. I tried refitting this weekend, third time. The manifold and turbo actually fit up better with the mods to the downpipe and the coolant and oil lines, though the brace still won't fit. The intake still feels half-assed, which is where I stopped. Everyone has seen the photos of the plumbing. I believe it was a rush job to get me off his back. Don't know if people picked up on this, but the intake doesn't fit with the stock crank pulley. If you buy this kit you'll need an underdrive pulley. I figured this out after I received the kit. He didn't realize his shop motor had an underdrive pulley on it during the build. Check the photos, you'll see it on the motor. He even updated the description to indicated you'll need to one, though he was decent enough to provide me with one. Individually these are mostly minor things. Added up I believe the whole thing was a failed experiment at my expense, which I told Elliot. I agree that it could be made to work, I am just burnt out. If I can recoup any money out of it I would be happier with some wheels or something...

Good luck with your install, I hope it goes well. I have a few things I'll post later that I learned putting mine in that might be helpful. I am curious to see how yours turns out. Sounds like Hoss-05 is getting one too.

I was referring to Hoss-05 he is my good buddy and we will be doing the install together. I only used Turblown for my turbo upgrade (which was not touched by Turblown actually but just forwarded to Comp turbo) on my Greddy kit.

I am happy with mine A Greddy kit with all the fixes and an upgraded turbo is the best solution IMO. With the Greddy you can always upgrade and change things at a later date if you wish.
#111
Oh I didn't mean anything against the Greddy. I just thought it funny that Turblown is supposed to be the shiznit but to your point with the fixes a Greddy kit would have been a better choice.

This kit has the potential to be great and uses great parts and the fab work appears to be good but I won't be a believer until someone runs it and makes reliable horsepower. All the bullshit from Turblown doesn't help their case either, I just understand the misinformation and back and forth on certain things. If someone is running this kit successfully then ******* post up the details, why all the bullshit?
But like I said, I will know soon enough and the install will be thoroughly documented on this site. If it's a hit then I will sing it's praises, if it's another turbo kit dud then that will be revealed as well.

Yeah, well if I had the tools and skills to fabricate and fix things on my own I might think that as well. The kit has huge potential, but the point of buying a kit is so that a normal customer can install it without needing a full metal working shop to get it installed and running. Full disclosure is always a good thing.

I will respond more when I have time.
There have been lots of changes to the kit, and I am working on an " expectations page" to better prepare end users.
Hoss's kit is 99% complete and I hope to ship very soon.
I have solved the underbrace problem, even with his big Synapse Wastegate it clears.
I am only offering one intercooler piping routingr( greddy style), which still allows the use of the OEM battery location. I have also moved the intercooler back so now there is less trimming involved.

A quick yes or no would go a long way...

Elliot, I am also concerned about the wastegate "clearancing" you performed by grinding the wastegate tophat. It appears to be cracking, like it was ground too deep. Please see attached and let me know your thoughts.
#121
rev it up
That is a concern. A fabricator should look to redesign rather that provide a band aid solution. An amateur like me might attempt a quick fix like that.
#122
Yeah, I had asked him to redo the manifold, which in the email regarding wastegate fitment he said he would redo for free. But then when this came up he said since it had already seen exhaust it wouldn't weld well. So this was the "fix".

Downpipe Fix
I mentioned I would share some tips for issues I came across during install. This one is regarding the downpipe. The original downpipe as it came was about a half inch to short front to back and off rotationally. See photo. The OE exhaust manifold mates up perfectly to my midpipe. I was able to wrestle it into position enough to get all 3 bolts in but it was not right and leaked horribly. Elliot had included a section of flex for me to weld into my mid-pipe, but I don't have access to a welder. I suggested he add a v-band and extend a half inch, which he did and it resolved the fitment issue. I was also told I would need to pound out a spot above the downpipe about the size of a quarter. Well, in order to get the downpipe to fit it was quite a bit larger than a quarter, but it worked. He said this is even recommended by Greddy, but I didn't see it in the install guide. Maybe I missed it or it's somewhere else...
I have some other tips I will share when I have some more time. In particular the coolant lines.

That looks like the type of "fix" I would do, not a professional. I sure hope Hoss's very expensive Synapse Wastegate doesn't get touched with a grinder. That DP fitment is just sad.
