STS Turbo question

so im looking at getting a STS Twin turbo for my 05 rx8 but i have no idea how much the installation is going to cost and what other upgrades i need to do before installing the turbo kit.

i don't want to blow my transmission/axels or anything so is there anything i should be worried about or anything i should upgrade so that the car can handle the boost?

thanks guys

STS doesn't make a turbo system specifically for the RX8 (although they were looking into it at one time). You would need to get one of their universal kits and make it work for the car. Installation costs depend on the quality of the fabricator you choose.

That being said, a remote mount turbo system has been done on the RX8 but it's rather rare since the benefits, in my opinion, have not been really proven. There are great low mount and top mount turbo systems that produce good power without the need to have the turbo remote mounted at the back of the car.

In terms of breaking your transmission or axles, you'll need to be making more than 450whp before those problems start to show up.

A twin turbo system really is not ideal nor necessary for the RX8 due to all piping converging to a single intake. You're better off using a single, well sized turbo as there are applications that spool quickly and provide plenty of airflow through the RPM range.

Installation of a remote turbo system will be quite a lot due to the need for custom piping and mounting. It will be a lot more than a low mount or top mount system.

I would suggest doing some seriously heavy reading before you make a decision that will end up running you well over $10,000 with parts and labor and probably produce less power under the curve than turbo setups already available for the car.

Like I said, the major horsepower section has all that info. I'd check out the sticky threads for FI information and you'll be able to make an informed decision.

You just joined the site and I'm guessing you just got the car. I suggest you get acquainted with both before you get serious about forced induction.

Wingle you forgot to mention he needs titanium valve springs and carbonite housings if he wants to run a twin turbo setup...

make sure its tuned properly or else youll have danger to your manifold during that important race.

Dont listen to the two above me. They are messing with you. You dont need any of that. All you need are low compression pistons and a good cam set up.
