Somewhat of a build thread
I have been working on Turboing the eight for two years now. As with everyones projects i keep having issue and problems that complicate the build or make things more expensive. However in the last two years, i realize that i have never really had a "build thread". Here is a quick run down of whats done to the car and where i am at now.
The car is a 05 manual and was purchase used. It was driven for about a year before i installed the turbo kit. The kit i purchased was a used esmeril racing kit. Basically i liked the placement and figured i would replace the turbo and other parts when the time comes. Well, kit was installed, and two days later the INT-X fried and took out my coils and motor. Long story short, in that time i replaced the INT-x and upgraded the coils to the Yukon coils, upgraded the wastegate but still had the stock turbo. The engine was rebuild in Texas after i pulled it and drove it down to Steve Kan. It now has Exmeril Apex seals and all new gaskets and bearings.
The motor then gets shipped back to me and (as some of you may have seen in another thread) I had an issue with the front main stack. I had to Replace all the bearings and spacers in the stack (Still not sure what caused the stack issue but I am still not convinced it was Steve's fault in the build) Once the stack issue was fixed, This was the first time i had gotten to drive my car in over a year. Put 2500 miles on it with a base type tune running off of a 4lb wastegate spring to be safe.
After 2500 Miles, there was excessive smoke out of the exhaust. Yup time for a new turbo. This leads me to where i am at today. I bout a Hybrid Gt35r from Turblown and am in the process of installing. I am waiting on a couple little parts to get the whole thing back together but I decided to run the piping off the turbo a little differnt then the original Esmeril kit. Instead i went this route. Required a little modification of a few parts but i think it looks better and will clean the bay of a bit.
Here are some pics of where the car is at now.

Nope that's the issue .. no dyno of the old turbo. It also now has meth injection this time around. Wish I could do a comparison though. Anxious to see what numbers I do hit though but at the same time keep it somewhat safe

Boostin'
You should be able to see the difference in the maps if you are doing the tuning. This turbo should come into boost and see maximum pressure a lot sooner than your old unit. Alcohol injection is going to toss out the ability to see the difference in fuel consumption( easy way to measure power increase).

Truthfully i would jsut like the car to be done and driveable. I have not gotten to enjoy it for quite sometime now. Mainly jsut putting money into it and getting nothing back in return. Now that its all coming together I am really not to concerned about numbers and trying to set any records, jsut want to enjoy what i have been working on.
That being said, sure do hope i break the 400whp mark lol
