So among other things I've been looking up suspension today
Moton - $7,200 shocks only
Koni 2800 series - $8,400 shocks only
I'm scared to even look at Penske...they don't even advertise prices
I'm not cheap but, daaaaaaaamn
Looks like it's going to be Fat Cats or Ohlins for me

Moton stuff is great.
Have you considered contacting Ohlins? DFV Road and Track is far from their top of the line stuff
Be ready to sell a kidney and a ******** though.

I've seen their 13kg/8kg full race coilovers...$3200...which is well within budget
Honestly it isnt so much of a budget thing as much as it is that I just can't justify paying $7-8K for suspension
Not saying it's not worth it but at my level I've got a ways to go before I need to consider that
I'll be just fine with something like the Ohlins or FCM coilovers mentioned above...It will be a while before I exceed the potential of those coilovers

The only problem with the FCM setup and others is that height is adjusted by the perch, and according to what I have read that is not ideal. Speedsource had a write up from KW that talked about it. But as with anything, if you ask ten "experts" you will get ten different answers as to what is ideal and what is not. I have always read a monotube design is better yet some of the higher end coilovers like KW use a twin tube design.

They are adjustable, it's just that you adjust them by the spring perch collar versus other setups where you spin the bottom of the shock you raise or lower height.

yea...not sure I'd like that
unlike most people I'm constantly adjusting my suspension...I have to fiddle with things
makes me look important and smart between sessions
for some reason most people set theirs and leave it even when the car is consistantly telling them something is out of tune
I'm always playing with my suspension

This is a pretty accurate chart even if the rest of the page has nothing to do with your car. It will help you budget for suspension.
