Yes ..... so stopping the bypass would increase the pressure at the pump and the current flow to the pump motor.... good thing ?

He said I mentioned a larger fuel line. I also recomended he move the pressure sensor to the pump outlet to test the theory it's too small of a fuel line.

But I'd probably risk over taxing the pump a bit over popping a engine. Or even set up a return system at 65psi. With the stock bypass on a Hobbs switch.

Hummm, the best of both worlds maybe? I do have the stuff for a return system with 3\8 hose at the house. But I never installed it from concerns about it.

Which I agree with, was just sharing possible avenues to keep moving forward

BTW, I've never changed my distributor cap. It's probably about due but I can't find it

Just discussing it. It's a topic that concerns me a lot. I haven't had the time to head into your range yet. I'm just working on going from 8 to 12 psi at the moment. I know I have enough injector and pump, but I don't know about the stuff between. I'm trying to steal a little from yall and maybe add to it too. When I get to a point of experiencing pressure drop I'll test it myself.

It was a random thought I had as I was typing. Over drawing the pump would be a concern, but if your only doing it while in Boost than I don't think it would be a concern.

On another quick thought. If your at 40psig-16psi boost. That's only 24 psi differential across the injectors. Your losing a lot of flow from pressure drop
I think you'd be better off figuring out how to get all your psi to them then upgrading injectors. Bigger injectors will just cause the pressure to fall more.

Def agree. I don't know if you saw my previous posts but I decided to hold off on injectors until I figure out what to do with the system as a whole. FWIW I see "low" 40's at full boost, like 43-44. But yeah, still low after accounting for boost pushing back as well.

Good stuff to noodle on!

yep .... had to modify the siphon to stabilise pressure . It was spiking badly when it went to high pressure mode . Otherwise everything is stock ....ish

So I was wrong about which clutch pressure plate I have installed right now. I forgot the stock disc wouldn't fit with that so I put the stock pressure plate back in as well. Maybe it's not acrually worn but instead I'm just pushing past its holding ability...

Anyway... Was planning on getting a new ACT set, but figured I'd ask what others are running with high boost...

What I can tell you is that I ran an Exedy stage 11 for a few years but when i finally pulled it out , it was about to fall to pieces . The backing plate was tearing away where the springs pushed against it . I'm currently trying a locally built carbon/kevlar concoction .

I also tried the ACT HD years ago but really didn't like it at all .

Really heavy pedal mainly but it also had an anoying spring vibration/noise at low revs .

I don't have enough miles to make a differance but I'm liking my exedy hyper single. It looked well built and pedal feel is stock. My wife couldn't tell a differance.

Well shoot, I mine was heavy as well but I thought heavy pedal was due to the HD Wouldn't anything with more clamping force be heavier? I had no noise. Until the disc went

How bad is it to reuse the pressure plate and flywheel if they are not warped, just break the glaze with some sandpaper? I'm thinking of trying it with a new ACT disc while I do some research on a permanent choice...

Rx-8 clutches are weird, I have driven a few that are super stiff from the factory and yet mine and others are really soft. Then I have driven some with the ACT HD, Exedy Stage II, etc. that were everything from soft to hard. Hoss's Carbonetic setup is not stiff at all.

Not necessarily ... depends on the design . Cheaper HD clutches just use more clamping springs with the same lever action . Some rely on less travel with longer lever etc etc .
There are def. HD clutches available with stock pedal feel.

Yep, that's what I was running previously. The pedal was definitely heavier with it for me, but not bad IMHO. I just assumed it meant it was stronger

My pedal had the typical failure about two years on that clutch and it went downhill quickly after that...

When i tore the car down it was a stock flywheel, clutch etc.

But after this install and a good pressure bleeding. I dunno to me it seems damn near stock. Maybe a tad heavier but nothing really notable.
