slash128's Top Mount Build
It's been a wild summer, thought I would share. The used motor got to be hard starting so I went ahead and got a reman from Mazda. Had it in less than 2 weeks and got rear-ended by a Dodge truck, ugh! Of course, he had no damage... Anyway, I had taken the turbo out previously, so while I am waiting to get my car back from the body shop I figured I would get the WG rerouted. Some gauges and other odds and ends too. Can't wait to drop it in and have some fun. The car was supposed to be done today, but now they say Tuesday...
Funny, after the accident I went back and found the Mazda emblem. It was broken but I noticed it fit together nicely to pay homage to my friend

Got the new gauges all wired in. In addition to boost and afr i now have fuel pressure, oil pressure and coolant temp. I found a cool switch that fits in the cig lighter hole. When the headlights are on it glows red. It switches all gauges between blue and red when pressed. Red matches the dash but blue is easier to see during the day...
I'm getting real close to it. I think i have all my maps set up decently. I pulled quite a bit of timing and can't wait to get going. I've got the wastegate set as low as possible and warnings set to 3 PSI. So hopefully I'll be good to get it going. The engine mount is the main thing I have to work on now.
Still doing some testing but I am pretty convinced my original problem was injector related. With the stock fuel system I don't experience any of the lean anomalies I started having in May/June just before I lost the motor. With the wastegate plumbed back in to the exhaust I could run with no spring for no boost and continue testing.
Sparks average 5 feet long
of course I take the car out of the garage. Really likes to make a mess of electronics, so I gnition coil upgrade maybe not. But there was a video floating around, from Australia I believe, that a guy put one on top of his car as a theft deterrent haha.

LOL wish I had something exciting to report. Just a boring 4psi for now
Waiting until weather warms up to do any more with cranking up the boost. These tires turn hard as rocks in 30 degree temps haha...
The wastegate relocation has worked out well. No more raspy vta. I loved (and miss) the scream at full boost but part throttle was kinda obnoxious. Plus it gives me easy access to swap springs. I wish injectors were that easy to swap.
Installed a GROM to replace my Xcarlink. I wanted the ability to change tracks on my phone via BT. I really like the GROM. Anecdotally, I'd say it sounds better as well.
Got a batch of LEDs coming in today. Working on complete LED conversion. I'll post some pics after I get some in.
Zenclosure box in the trunk. Should have my amp and sub soon...
That's about it for now
