one more gauge
I'm ordering my lotek gauge pod, so I have 3 spots to fill
Its going to be a Greddy setup with a possible MM upgrade later. No boost controller, just stock boost. For now I am going to keep everything stock-ish (no bigger injectors, water/meth)
Every one needs an AFR gauge
since no boost controller i need a bost gauge
what should the last spot fill? EGR would be useless with an AFR gauge. Im not upgradeing fuel system so fuel pressure seems null.
oil temp?
water temp?
oil pressure?
i know the temp gauges kind of go hand in hand, and that the stock pressure is just on/off switch. so im looking for any suggestions.

I run 5 gauges:
AFR, Boost, EGT in my lotek - these are the gauges I watch most. I watch my AFRs pretty commonly just to make sure nothing's changed. I used to watch the boost gauge, but don't much anymore. The EGT is my new point of interest as I can get a fair amount of input from that. It's probably not too vital though.
I run oil pressure and water temp on the bottom. The oil pressure gauge has been a wash. It was nice to verify that I did indeed have oil pressure but since I don't look at it much at all. Water temp can be key and/or oil temp. The two tend to go hand in hand. I would probably recommend getting a water temp gauge to keep an eye on temps. Oil temps are key as well, but there are no fans in the oil cooling system. You get what you get. With my management, I used my water temp gauge to make sure my fans were functioning (or not functioning) as required.

I assume when you said "EGR" you meant EGT (Exhaust Gas Temp) correct? If that's the case assuming it's useless because you have an AFR gauge is not the case.
EGT is the gauge, that if you know how to read it, tells you when your engine is about to blow up. AFR is the gauge that tells you your engine Is blowing up. But be aware, for EGT gauges to actually mean anything, you need one that can read fast enough (sampling multiple times per second). Most EGT probes on the market don't sample fast enough, so they are really useless. You want a fast-reading one.
Also, what kind of engine management are you running? If you have the AccessPORT, then water temp is taken care off.
For me, I would go oil temp. An oil pressure gauge is nice, but if your pressure does fall too low the OEM gauge will warn you. Depending on the viscosity of your oil, you don't want to go into boost until it's almost up to temperature.

yeah i did mean EGT, my bad... And like you already pointed out, any economical one would be so slow to tell me i have serious lean burn issues the AFR would probably have tipped me off (not to mention the strange noises and loss of power from the engine)
Yes AP rocks and its what ill run

I run 3 gauges in a Lotek pod in addition to my AccessPORT. I have boost, water temp, and oil temp. I use the AccessPORT for AFRs. For my setup its more than enough information to try and keep track of during normal operation of the car.

It samples many times per second and warms up stupid fast. Also the gauges flashes when you are running too hot (lean).
They also have a sick dual probe version so you can put probes in both the front and rear rotor runners.
You want the version with the "Stinger" probe- it's the fast acting one
By the time you hear strange noises and loss of power the engine is already done, unless you're lucky.
