Yep, i drive quite a bit.
work/home, home/work plus I just like to take her for a ride every once in a while just for fun.
This is my DD car, not a toy. I drive her hard every single day. Some days loaded with my wife, two kids and a dog

No, no dyno yet.
As I said, Ive been too busy lately to even breathe.
I need to do a lot of work on the car besides the turbo now.
Breaks, Tires just to name a few... it all costs money. I must prioritize a bit. I still would love to get a fuel system upgrade and a decent boost controller.

Also, I have been moving the air filter and while at it had a chance to look at the turbo. There is quite a bit of a shaft play. It is neither smoking, nor have I noticed any changes of the way it makes boost, but I am thinking that sometimes withing the next 10 K miles I probably need to put in a new turbo (unless the shaft play is a normal thing)

Intex Tuning Maps

I finally got a new laptop, with a working network card
And took a bunch of screenshots of my Int-X screens for anyone who might be interested.

This is a stock fuel system map. no upgrades whatsoever.
This map is quite lean when run in Vac. it maintains around between
14.5 - 15.9 up to 0HG and then around 10.5-13 depending on RPM when in boost.

The ignition curve at this time is much less aggressive than what I had during winter time, because the temps outside are kind of too hot, and I didn't like how the car was running in this temperatures (95F+). To be on the safe side, I pulled the ignition.

Very sweet. Too much of a DYI for me since my 8 is my DD. You should market a kit.

Unfortunately he couldn't, even if he had the time and money. If I've heard correctly, STS has a patent on the whole rear-mounted turbo idea. Which is pretty lame IMO, because A) it seems like an awfully broad patent, and B) I don't think the idea is even new, I swear I've seen old blueprints online somewhere with a P-51 Mustang that had a remote-mounted turbo.

I doubt STS has a patent on ANY remote turbo system- it's far to general to patent it. Plus, STS has been around for a long time, and I garrantee if they did have a patent on it, it has since run out

Actually the last I checked, the patent was still standing.
I have no idea how they managed to get this patented but they did pull it off. And the patent does cover the concept of installing the turbocharger remotely, as well as the oil extraction approach. It is very broad, and In my opinion it is ridiculous that they did something like this. But is is patented. This is why no one else I assume is marketing the systems except STS.
Unless someone with large enough wallet gets really interested in the concept, to actually take it to court and wrestle that patent away from STS, there won't be many of those kits out.
Hell maybe Cam from Pettit, or Scott fro Mazsport may get in on this? Whatdoyasay guys?

I'd like to see the language of the patent.
Anyone have access to it?

Yeah, that's impossibly vague.
If it can be shown that there was ever even one example of a remotely installed turbo system that predates the application for this patent, it is substantially void.
Furthermore, the patent is so worded that it essentially covers any method of installing a turbo system.
I don't see how they got that past an examiner.

This patent, completely covers every possible way for installing a turbo in any location other than the engine compartment. (below the oil level)
Pretty much grants them the right to be a monopolist. Isn't that a law violation in itself?

Well, patents are designed to cover unique intellectual property.
This patent, somehow, covers every possible application of a turbo.
Business practices are another thing entirely.
Personally, I'd ignore this patent. If you were ever served a C&D based on this patent, the counter suit would immediately defer it.

Precisely.

Off course, if anyone is interested, I could "show" them how to build a system like that on their own.
I could even sent them some metal pipes. Like maybe a small like 6-7" long 2.5" diameter bend of a steel pipe with a turbo flange attached to it. ...and maybe a turbo... How is it my fault that that turbo magically fits into that flange.
Also, I may have a couple of the self priming oil pumps laying around, so if someone is interested to get it to pump the oil out of the engine when changing oil...

I mean I'd have no clue what people may possibly want these parts for, and it is none of my business to know really... Right guys?

Well, on further reading, the patent would have to be taken in whole to be valid - in other words, just because it mentions putting an air filter before the turbo, doesn't mean they hold the patent to doing so.
It would only apply to a system where the turbo is specifically placed where the muffler is placed. That applies to all the claims of the patent, including the oil anti-drainback valve and the speed-sensitive scavenging pump.
As long as the system is not specifically this one, it would not violate the patent since the individual claims come from other extant patents or methods.

Talking

Yeah,
and since there is no speed sensitive pump in my system,
no check valves in the oil lines... and... and... and...

Some positive news:
My dearest Wife took off with girlfriends for a night out, which left me a good 3-4 hours to play with my Interceptor. And what a tune I have come up with.
Will not disclose way too much at this point, as nothing is entirely finalized, but just a hint:
Different injector staging entirely.
rev from 0 to 10K is so smooth, it is just unbelievable.
Transition into boost is absolutely nonexistent. Meaning there is none. You cant even tell if you are in boost or in vac.
At this point, it still runs a bit fat, but I had already started trimming fuel, and got it to run 12-13 in vac and high 9is low 10 under boost. But my god it is in the days like this you fall in love with your car all over again.
Once I get the maps running the way I really want them to, I will take the screenshots of everything I've done and post it in the new tread I had started here:

I took apart my BOV today, and found that the membrane is severely damaged. i will be ordering a replacement BOV tomorrow.

Meanwhile, i spent a day driving around with a laptop, tuning the new Re-staged map. Here is a detailed write-up of what I had been doing:

maybe if it was a good quality bov, it would stay, but this is a 30 buck knock off. it worked well while it did, but they are actually known for getting the membrane busted after a while.

no big deal though.

To make a quick fix (until the new one arrives) I patched the cracks with some rubber glue, and it seems to have solved the problem, The replacement has already been ordered.

You should try a 1st Gen eclipse BOV. They used to go on ebay for 10-30$ and they can hold about 14psi. They are also Metal and can be modified to hold higher PSI.

These things were dirt cheap after F&F came out, everyone wanted a Greddy typeS so they sold the stock BOV at crack head prices.

Thats if your still wanna keep things cheep.

Thanks for the tip, unfortunately by the time you posted i already ordered me an new bov.
it is another ebay cheapo, but this one seems to be of a better quality, so hopefully it will last a year.

With the new BOV, lotsa issues are gone.
my boost levels are back, the idles are now tunable.
