lets start over,

nitrous is not dangerous at any concentration because the oxygen is safely bound to the inert nitrogen.

Suprisingly, by molecular weight oxygen is around 37% concentration in nitrous oxide

even more suprisingly around 300 million years ago, the earth's normal air oxygen concentration was around 35%

u gotta understand the humidity was wayy higher at that time

which begs the question: would injecting some water vapor into the engine allow you to run higher concentrations of nitrous? or better yet, compressed nitrous?

the mere thought of compressed nitrous makes me think of a kaboom!

besides we all knew how that turned out for the dinosaurs

How was the humidity higher? here now it goes from about 0 at death valley to 100% aka. its raining

begging the question (does not equal) lets ask the question: http://logicalfallacies.info/beggingthequestion.html

no dyno is better than the other, some just give different values. dynojet gives the biggest numbers so people usually like it the best. 200hp on a dynojet is worth less than 200 hp on a mustang

taj: if the turbo guys can do that much power on the stock fuel pump, nitrous shouldn't have a problem either (assuming well-calibrated jets)

staticlag: in storage nitrous is not dangerous, however during combustion the oxygen is freed. my question was whether or not this can create a dangerous condition with higher HP shots

so the conclusion is, if you want your rx8 to run stronger, build a time machine and go back to 300,000,000 BC. Yeah.

because I dont rly want to know the answer, so its just begging it until someone else asks

and the overall atmospheric concentration 300million years ago was far more humid than it is today

You're talking about relative humidity. At 100% relative humidity, the higher the temperature of the air the higher the water content. Also, you can have 100% humidity without rain. It feels real nasty.

You guys can red up on the rest here... now let's get back on topic http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paleoclimatology

Ah, thats because they need to pull the ABS/DSC fuse from under the hood. Or else the ABS or DSC is going to give you low numbers.

Charles, what is the limiting factor of trying to run a 100 shot on the renesis?

Is it the fuel pump?

I get it

so theoratically we can pust say 300 shot (if thats even possible) into the renesis with a good tune and ignition it WILL work?

If you estimate a 100-shot will give you 75 or so ponies to the wheels, you are not even close to maxing out the fuel system

Those with turbos have added 100-rwhp on the stock fuel system, but much beyond that you need new fuel injectors first, then a fuel pump, and I would convert to a return-style fuel system as well

As soon as someone successfully completes an EMS tuned nitrous system on the 8 (for shots above 75), things will become a whole lot more interesting around here thats for sure. I will be contributing to my piggy bank over the winter in preparation for this inevitable feat.

the only gripe I have right now is blowing up my precious 8 on a dyno, then I'd have to go out and buy another 1

PLEASE go find a Dynojet, taj!!!

Mustang dynos are for tuning, but if you're trying to find where you are in the food chain as far as power, dyno on a Dynojet. No matter what anybody says, Dynojet is the standard number, and everybody always tries to convert Mustang to Dynojet based on an 8% to 10% conversion.

Dont forget to get a printout, and scan it or take a picture of it to post it.

What will be really interesting is how much of an increase in torque you'll have over HP. I don't know how the rotary acts, but in a piston engine, you'll typically get 1.2 to 1.5 times as much peak torque over HP.
