Mazsport's High Performance Transmission Upgrade!
Sorry to put this thread up again.
I just broke my tranny thanks to the mechanic's incompetence (asked to check it, opened and dead after 2 days...).
I don't know if the warranty will cover that issue so i need to ask this:
How will the 5 gear work on the track compared to our 6 speed?
I am modded but still NA and i always found the short gearings to help with our little torque. What would it be like with this transmission?
Thank you very much!

This is what I see:

The word "Stock" - that's what threw me off. I assumed you were just interjecting an off topic curiosity-ish question about the stock RX-8s tranny.
Sorry it's the new sleep prescription.
So yes,
Significantly.
My bad.

the trans is one thing very very good, but i dont think many people are realizing the benefits that are being obtained from cunking the ppf and having custom bracing. That in itself is very very good.
Hurry up Christmas 2010!!

I haven't read up much on PPF issues, but if the PPF is both heavy and underperforming (flexing), then the strain on the drivetrain is being absorbed by the mechanical components more than it needs to be. The shear on a member is proportional to it's deflection. If you have 2 elements supporting something - say a bracket and a transmission, the stress will be spread between the two. The stiffer connection will take more load as it won't allow the system to deflect as much as the softer connection would allow. So, if the PPF flexes, is soft, or flat out fails, everything it is tying together is picking up the slack. A nice, strong, stiff PPF would hold everything in place and lessen the structural load transfered to the other components.
Anyone got a link to PPF failures?

Here you are, for both the transmissions (stock and mazsport's)-
Excel papers to do some math!
All you have to do is change the final gear to 4,444 since i'm driving with a 4,777.
It is in italian and in km\h too but it shouldn't be an issue, it is very plain and simple.
Also, and that's important, it is not my own work but a friend (brove on the italian board) made it for me

Ok with the departure of Scott and Mazsport goes the option of this transmission for my 20b rx8. Are there any body else that is offering a similar transmission or could rebuild a stronger rx8 tranny. I know there are many options for other transmissions (t-56, rx7 tII, etc...) however I spent a good chunk of change on a twin disk exedy clutch for the rx8 and would hate to loose that.
Anybody?
Anybody?
www.levelten.com by me in nj can build a strong transmission
you can always try to contact him directly and see if he can do it, at your own risk mind you ....
