Scott,

I am looking into buying your ignition solution but could you explain to me and possibly other members what this "dwell setting" and Accessport compatability issues they keep talking about. Also what is the lifetime for these set of coils?

P.S. Thanks for everything and BTW the 8 has so far claimed the names of Corvette, 2nd gen Turbo Supra, Mustang GT, Mazdaspeed protege, Z28 camaro, SRT4 and small others!!! Oh and on low boost 6.5 lbs.

Post 1 doesn't answer the questions all it says is that they have tested it for 6 months.

The Mazsport coils require a different dwell setting at upper RPMs on about 50% of the forced-induction applications.
N/A people will probably never have a problem.

If you are FI and using the Int-X, Scott has an adjustment he can explain to you.
If you are AccessPORT (and you bought the unit from me), just send an e-mail and I'll adjust the dwell in your calibration.

Its completely NOT an issue now.

I'm AccessPORT NA from you, and I don't have the problem. So, are the misfires for those you mention, throwing codes?

Not particularly. If you have a PCM that is sensitive to misfires, then you might.
Its just an issue of the coils not having enough time to charge at higher RPMs.
Since Scott's coils are stronger than stock, even if they are operating below maximum power at high RPMs, they are still putting out a spark that is comparable or better than the OE coils on only the OE dwell settings.

I received mine in the mail yesterday and installed it last night in my girlfriends drive way. My original coils were bad so this seems like a huge improvement. My car is running pretty damn good for the time being (need to get my new battery charged)

I thought I read something about this somewhere, but couldn't find it again now. Does this upgrade mean you have to buy replacement parts from Mazsport for these parts if they were to fail later, or can you use stock ones?

The coils and wires are different so you wouldn't be able to replace them with OEM. The wires are standard plug wires though so any auto parts place would have those. They are probably cheaper than the OEM wires to replace.

As far as the coils go I don't know.

For the DSC... turn the steering wheel all the way from side to side and it'll turn off.
The traction control light should not be on next time you start you car.... I get that too.

This "issue" is not related to the Mazsport ignition solution.

This will happen everytime you disconnect the battery.
