none, well at least none for the price of 6 sets of OEM coils.

mazsportmantis 12-28-2007 09:48 AM

I am receiving calls and emails like crazy this morning (thank you for your support), and want to please request that any inquiries with intent to purchase please be sent to my username here or sales@mazsport.net or call the shop directly.

Scott receives so many emails that his mail gets clogged up and I dont want anyone to miss out on this prerelease price. If you have any questions please post them here and I will do my best to get answers for everyone.

This Mazsport product is a great addition to a non turbo vehicle! I have been running it on my non turbo 8 and can tell you it is an impressive addition.

Do we have pics of these? I would be interested in why my 10.5 mm Taylor wires will not fit that is a $100 I would rather not have to spend again.

Phish806 12-28-2007 11:35 AM

if i read correctly .. the only reason the stock wires or RX8 specific aftermarket wires will not work is because of the new location they would not be long enough ... so if your wires are long enough they should work ... again .. thats just what i am picking up from this post

Yar...basically they have been relocated somewhere...no pics or other information is publicly known or available yet...I am sure we will see something soon.

But in a nutshell...if your wires fit perfectly now...then you need new ones because they will not with the upgrade.

Phish806 12-28-2007 11:44 AM

now ... the question is ... is if you for some reason have wires that will fit ... or make your own wires... could you purchase the kit without the wires included???

dannobre 12-28-2007 12:30 PM

It's also probable that the coil end may require a different type of connector.......

I talked to Scott when I ordered mine 3 weeks ago and this is why the solution requires new plug wires...

That is too bad, it pigeon holds you to only one option.

I think it is still a standard connection, its just that its different. The 8 has female coils(a hole where the plug wire goes into), V8's usually have a male at the distributor and therefore the wire must be female on this side of the connection. However, it is still an "over the counter" plug wire and could be replaced if they go bad years down the line. I know all this because the coils we are using are male and new wires were also needed.

Chris

That is my exact concern, if they are new connectors and new lengths if would be difficult to find a replacement down the road.

You could not just walk up to a counter and say, “Hey I need a set of cables for a 04 RX8”. You would have to worry about finding the right length as well as the right connector. I see your only option being to pay someone to terminate a custom set for you if you do not have the equipment to-do it yourself or mail order them.

For me I could just run down the street and get a set, for those cross country it becomes a greater issue.

you could also buy a Universal Plug wire set for V8's such as the Accel 8.8mm(about $70) and make yourself 3 wire sets with whats in the box. ;)

Chris

Phish806 12-28-2007 02:18 PM

thats what i did... bought the universal Accel kit for a V8 and used four of the plug wires.... now i have four left... so i am thinkin i could use those and not need the new wires with the new coils if i so decide to purchase them

I think the biggest thing to take from what Chris said if you read carefully, is that he is using aftermarket coils sucessfully also. :)

Hmm, save $75 now, maybe more from Esmeril later?

I think this is a great product by Mazsport. ;)

great how ? can you be more specific please . There are obviously no dynos of any N/A gains or we would have seen them already .....

Phish806 12-28-2007 03:01 PM

i am sure they have dyno tested this .... so ... lets see some N/A dyno results please :)

dd aka mister poopy pants, how can you fault us for including custom plug wires for your 8?:lol2: we are just trying to make sure you have all of the options you will need....SELL SELL SELL< BUY BUY BUY!!!!

Betsey thought I was out west already and she STILL called me at 9:30 a.m. EST. Not a bad wake-up call I suppose......

flyboi, we sell spark plugs on our site that are a lot cheaper than the factory plugs. give me a call if you would like to purchase a set.

You must always keep your spark strong......

2tone 12-28-2007 03:38 PM

yeah, please explain WHAT these do or HOW much the gains are. it's hard to drop 5 to 6 hundred on something that is "an impressive addition" ...

mazdaexe 12-28-2007 03:45 PM

Im guessing the HKS twin power will not work with this?

I asked Betsey this question at Mazsport and she said the new coils would work with the HKS twin power.

bsteimel 12-28-2007 03:49 PM

It seems to be that the coils in the rx8 are a wear item and the majority of people have to replace them. I have already changed my plugs once. I just ticked over 50,000 miles. If i'm going to have to replace them soon anyway i might as well pick up an improvement kit.
so my question is ...

At what mileage do people usually see coil failure and should this be something i need to get in the short term?

turborx8 12-28-2007 03:54 PM

How do we know when our coils are starting to fail?
