Mazsport dyno results!

Happy Holidays guys!
We took a customers car to the dyno this week with our Type 3 turbo kit and wanted to share our results.

04 RX-8 with ~ 25,000 miles
Mazsport Type 3 turbo kit
Interceptor-X E.M.S.
Mazsport ignition solution

We were using 93 octane pump gas and I tuned the car at 13 psi with a conservative ~11.1 afr's. Had we pulled the afr's up to 11.7 range there is no doubt it would have netted 370-375rwhp but without the customer there I took the Captain Conservative approach.

As you can see the spark issue's that have plagued the RX-8 are a thing of the past.

scott, don't lie to me, how much overall do you have to put to get that? please don't say you can achieve that with the kit, if I am garunteed that if I pay 8.5k and get that number, I'll order right away, but somehow I highly doubt it

Why would you doubt it? The kit comes with upgraded fuel pump, injectors, etc. So it's pretty complete from the get-go.

So 8.5k for the kit, ~$600(?) for the ignition upgrade, then install and tuning.

assuming you can install and tune it yourself, yes. Otherwise you have to factor in those costs as well.

Also have to factor in climate, elevation, and the quality of your local gas. Assuming those items are not hugely detrimental, you should be able to get similar numbers.

well, Im at sea level and in CA, so pretty much good for those other factors

and no, I am assuming that, I self install, but I have to go tune it(which is the hard part for me anyways)

and I assume that Mazsport (scott) tuned that car himself, so I highly doubted that, even with 9.2k I would be able to see those numbers.........

I am not dissing the damn kit mind you, I want to buy it for sometime now, but

as some of you might know, 10k is not easy to come by, and if I'm gonna blow it on my car, I'd want my money's worth

Hey where did you get the ~$600 price tag from.

What does the ignition timing upgrade include?

the coils the new mount and new sparkplug cables, plus a new type of connectors. if you are boosted it will be worth it---no more small sparkplug gaps.no more blowouts

I'm impressed. Time to trade in my car, get a used RX8 at a good price, and slap this thing on there? More details!

$600 is what I believe Scott said the ignition upgrade cost when I spoke with him a while back. This isn't recent info, so don't quote me on it as the price may be different now that they're being produced.

Here's some of the info:

First production run probably shipping around Christmas or the week after. Keep an eye on the website for the release information. If interested you can get into the pre-release group for $495 which includes the Ignition Upgrade and the custom plug wires that are needed to install this product. But.........you'd better hurry. They will be selling the plug wires seperately in the future. Once this product is released it will be a higher price. The $495 is the pre-release price only. Think they have about 15 buyers or so on the pre-release at this point.

Nice numbers and congratulations Scott, but be very careful here. This is at the upper end of where your typical, 93octane grade pump gas can be reliable. At this power level, things with 93 octane begin to become ever-so-slightly risky, where a change of fuel at a different station can ultimately yield a blown engine for no explicable reason. My recommendation is to turn the wick down and see what it does at 10-11psi, assuming that the boost level remains solid and does not creep.

Btw, what leading advance and trail-split? On the 10:1 motor with 13psi, if it truly was 13psi and not 14-15, I would recommend a 13-14* lead advance with a 9-11* split.

I agree on the target AFR's for that fuel being low 11's.

Again nice numbers,

B
