Inter X tuning success
Wanted to share some on my success in tuning the inter.
Long story short
-Blew my first turbo'd engine at the end of May
-After much **** - had Dave from KDR install reman engine - run 6 dynos and tune
-still missing wastegate damaged in move to Dave's shop - Still waiting for new one from Mitsub - Dave used one from another RX7 Mitsub turbo which works for now.
-Not knocking Dave but car did not run as before after engine install
I started to make small fuel changes - for some reason scotts original tune did not yield good results - car ran very lean at higher rpms - until I read about tuning the fuel parameters in Matrix Mode
As taken from Scott's interc help
"2. Fuel Control Functions: Matrix Mode
To switch to Matrix mode, set the “Maps =” option to “Matrix” (Screen 31).
This generates a series of Load maps, which the ECU references according to engine rpm, i.e. there is a Load map at 1000 rpm, another at 1500, then 2000 etc. As the engine revs change, the ECU switches Load maps according to the changing rev range. This 3D mapping system allows for much higher resolution tuning, as you can compensate for any requirement of the engine under special conditions without affecting its’ running under other conditions."
Taking small steps - I used the matrix mode and retuned the fuel functions.
The car is finally running really good again - after the first engine blowing up and almost my marriage after spending about 5k, I am taking it easy and not beating the **** out of the car. I have been running around 6-7 lbs of boost where I plan to keep it. The car runs through all gears and up to 6k rpm without any issues.

Mad dog
I am in the North Central mountains of New Jersey - elevation ~ 1100' - but I do travel between that elevation and sea level most of the time.

I remember when Scott tuned our SoCal group rx8s, I asked him about the matrix mode function. He said that matrix mode was not recommended for the interceptor/rx8 application due to the injectors staging setting being difference from the ordinary microtech/13b setup, or something eles?Any input from Scott?
