How Kane and Ray build a Ceramic, Ported, Turboed Renesis!!!!
well - until someone dynos at more than 350whp on the MM upgrade there is not really much that needs explaining , because realistically that is about what a 3071 should max out at .
After two years out there no-one has posted a dyno over 330 (chickenwafer) .....

Kane is going to be a good test to see whats capable with a built motor, the MM kit, and all around solid parts and installation. I'm following with a BDC built motor and my boost gets turned up too. If the 3071R can't support more than 350 whp then it can't, but one way or another we'll find out. Just because we haven't seen it yet doesn't mean the hardware isn't capable.
I'm still waiting for the day when someone runs a GT3582 like all of the 13B-REW guys. Seems it'd be a good fit for our motor to me... I'm curious how our side exhaust ports would work out with it. Then again, I don't know if we have enough packaging room to run a divided housing manifold which I would also like to see :P

taking your time is a luxury that some do not allow themselves. When we were "chattering" on the live feed--there was some good natured ribbing going on---you know just guy stuff. I didnt hear anyone actually critize anything---but there again I wasnt on the live feed a lot.
It looked like fun, wish i could have been there. I thinked i talked about how shiney your head was
Ray --how did you like the mounts I made?
It will be interesting in watching this car getting all the little gremlins out and fine tuned.
COgrats to all

Yeah, definitely no real negative comments from the peanut gallery, I think all of us watching the feed were having a good time bullshitting and seeing you guys sweat on your tropical island. Congrats on hitting your target date Ray, and congrats Kane on a kickass motor. I am really super interested in your long term opinion of the NRS seals as I still have not selected seals for my BDC built motor.
I am jet lagged like a *****; so I'll be short - the Motor Mounts are really nice OD - I noticed no NVH at idle really and it actually felt smoother on cruise; and the throttle snap in is quick.
Whether that is motor, clutch or mounts.... I can't say - prolly all three.
I only lost faith in the timeline when we weren't in control of the outcome (flashers acting up, deliver people etc...) - and I really wanted to leave HI with no strings attached.

.....However, figure most of us car enthusiast guys run an air filter either straight on the compressor or with a small inlet duct that's still keeping an air filter inside the engine bay. With that, you're looking at an even lesser efficient compressor with it drawing in much, much hotter temps.

I don't have a clue what the details are, but I knew this back around the Jun-Aug '08 timeframe, and quite possibly before that... (i cant remember when i learned this, just that i knew it when i bought mysql's stuff)
***this also had been mentioned many times long ago. IIRC it was said that approx 10 degrees over ambient @ 14psi+
wow... and i thought i didnt pay attention around here... Jeef made that post about it in March(? - the one that was linked) but it had been mentioned/alluded to long before that...

As RG mentioned , if it is a 3076 then that is what he should call it - otherwise it is just BS .
BTW - have you actually measured the wheel to be sure ?
i did not measure it. i started to one day, and just shrugged it off. I didnt know the exact details, and didnt really care that much to check them out. We have had consistent reports of what it can do, and although Jeef may not be known for many things(poor communication/sarcasm/etc hehe) he certainly isnt known for lying.
i tried to find a few old posts from back in the idea phase of this upgrade kit, but either i fail at searching or the threads are gone... either way, i am pretty certian it was mentioned back then that this wasnt a standard 3071
plus, the other thing is, even for all those who have been calling him out for months to see his dyno's... why? to see whose ***** are bigger? how many people here would really be driving it around @ 400whp if they could anyway. more than 330-360 gets out of hand for a street car of our weight and suspension characteristics/ traction

Anyone who has followed MMs post would agree that he has always promoted his turbo as a 3071 - he even posted (3071) flow charts to represent his turbo .
To me it seems like an elaborate deception ,done for reasons which I can only speculate on.
BTW if it is indeed a 3076 I am impressed with his selection - I had in fact toyed with the idea of ordering the kit from him and getting him to upgrade it to that - funny .

Yeah - I own a Ferrari 430 - f**k it's awesome . Oh wait - It's actually an RX8 with a 430 badge on . Oh well - I'll still tell everyone I own one .
Because a 3071 making that much power does not make sense . A 3076 on the other hand , does .

if you owned an RX-8 that performed like an F-430, you could call it a Fiat for all I care.
I agree it has been promoted as a 3071R, probably because thats what this turbo starts out as... if thats not the case, well at least he doesnt grind off all markings making it impossible to find the truth about anything like one vendor from the past lol
