I know this is something ancient, but as one currently serving in my second tour, I can't let this stand as is. You sir, must be a Fobbit, as no self respecting individual who has actually risked his neck would say such a incredibly ridiculous thing. You are an attention *****, boasting about what you do not understand. I do not care how long ago it was or how sorry you are for what you said. I despise your kind of scum more than anything in the world and quite obviously have no probem pointing that out. Come back when you 1) mature a little and 2) do something other than spend your days sitting on your *** in the TOC. Until then, be silent.
On that note, I appreciate all the info everyone has provided. It has been of great assistance. I apologize for my ranting, but I disapprove of those who would use the uniform for attention, they did not join to serve and ergo, have no business wearing the uniform.

Uh oh, I sense rivalry, I'm 101st. We should probably shift over to the Lounge forum for further discussion instead of flooding this one.
I have what I hope is a legitimate question. Has anyone done any research on what it would cost to piece together the GReddy kit with MM's upgrade instead of buying each separately? Or even just buying MM's upgrade and piecing together the rest of the kit.....

yeah i looked into it, the only way it would be cost effective is if you could get the greddy for less than 3 grand, which i cannot seem to find. also i guess if you have the patience the new BHR kit is sappose to improve upon MM upgrade kit.
and PS there is no rivalry... there is the ONE airborne division and there are the rope a dopes. you clearly drew the short end of the stick.

PS: Nothing says fun like having your parachute shot full of bullet holes on the way down, I'll stick to my rope thanks!
Alright, in the name of leading by example, direct any further military banter and or conversation to the Lounge and more specifically, the thread entitled Fobbits Need Not Apply.

its alwasy good to see another military man (or woman) on these boards.
i think your biggest issue would be getting hold of the manifold. other than that fabricateing would be no harder than putting some pipeing together.
i would just wait till the BHR kit comes out.

I got my GReddy kit for 2500 on this forum, just look out for them and they can be found. Not being disrespectful at all, but it seems at the moment that the possibility of finding a used GReddy kit for cheap and then upgrading it thru MM, is going to be easier and quicker than waiting for BHR's turbo kit to come out.

This is true.
I am fully aware, as I was probably first on their preorder. Unfortunately, money was becoming an issue for the BHR kit, not that its a bad price, but some things came up. And honestly I wanted to boost my 8 before winter. It will be interesting to see the end result however.

I pieced together my kit from a used GReddy kit and the MM GT3071R upgrade.
I can speak from experience, that while I initially thought I was going to save baskets of money, I still spent over $1500 what I thought I would. Tracking down the stupid little parts caused a lot of headaches and added up quickly.
That being said, I still spent a hell of a lot less than what I should have to gone FI with my setup.
Finding used GReddy kits isn't what it used to be now thanks to Jeff's upgrade that makes the GReddy parts a real player, and the fact that it's harder to source new GReddy kits as well as they went out of production.

the little things do add up...and get very aggravating to track down
it did save me money, but sometimes I wonder if it was worth the headaches
