How loud are these pumps usually? I had one put in last week by a local rotary mechanic. When I start the car the sound is not noticeable for about 45 min, then I start to hear it, and by an hour it's loud and annoying. You can hear it a good distance away outside the car too.

I made this youtube clip. First the camera is in the drivers seat, then I put it over the back seat near the pump. You can hear the tone change a lot when I use the window switches.

Doesn't sound particularly loud.
Hard to say from that clip.

I can't hear mine in my car. A modified exhaust plus too many years of R&R have probably contributed to the degradation of my hearing.

You would hear mine. The volume is about same as the engine idling from within the car. In a parking lot you can easily hear it humming from 30+ feet away. I assume since it's quiet for the first 45 min that it should always be relatively quiet, so I can't stop thinking something must be wrong with it, or it's a knock-off. It's a well known shop but idk where they source their pumps from.

Only time I hear mine is when I turn the ignition on before starting . Have had it running well over an hr without any noise like you are getting . Something is up with yours .

I can hear mine after the car is started. It's a very faint whine and can not be heard outside the car.

My 1st unit ate itself with less than an hour on it. Ray was very kind and rma'ed it out for me.
Thanks Ray !

The shop is going to get another one and put it in. They said they get it direct from Walbro, so it's just a bad one I guess. Thanks.

Dunno if this has been answered and cant find anything when i search but is anyone else having problems with the walbro sucking more fuel from the right side of the tank than the left?

its stuffing up my fuel gauge making it say i have half a tank left when ive already travelled over 300kms, is there a solution for this or did i just install the pump wrong?

You screwed up the level sender when you moved the harness.

yep---- there is a wire that crosses the tank that can get tangled in the level sensor stuff which will cause that exact thing. It happened to me. Just take the pump out and look in it toward the passenger side and you can see it.

Has anyone installed a fuel pressure gauge?

The tube that draws fuel from the other side of the tank, can also get pinched.

I have the E-01 setup to track the fuel pressure (along with boost and AFR) in real time.
The range is 55 to 65 PSI with a warning set at 45 PSI, which dumps the wastegate when crossed.
When the car starts, there is a "spike" to 75 PSI and it immediately settles to 65 PSI. It doesn't vary all that much, but it is affected by altitude and barometric pressure. I don't know if that is the sender (probably) or the pump head (probably not).
Generally, when I go WOT, the fuel pressure drops about 2 PSI and holds there.
Turning has no effect at all, even when the tank is nearly empty.

An interesting side effect of the pump upgrade is that I can truly run the tank dry.
I filled up yesterday and she took over 15 gallons.

Very interesting MM,
I do not see the spike and my pressure settles in at 60.7 psi

My altitude is about 1300 ft.

Hands up those that think the noise this pump makes when you turn on the ignition is kinda cool
