Just a BTW -

I took the exit ramp for the 10 onto Pecos Road at well over Arizona State's "criminal" speed today.
Lets just say, there was a "1" flashing at me from time to time.
Then I rolled into Circle K and put 14.7 gallons of gas in the car.

You put two and two together.

Awesome. I can't wait to get this pump in my 8... finally I'll be able to turn left again! Mine's been failing at less speed than that on a full tank.

Look at that lovely 270 degree left turn starting at the top of the Z in the middle of the track. That's just a pipe dream for me right now.

Most excellent.

I don't usually use Circle-K. I was on fumes and didn't have much choice.

Any closer to this comment:

"BHR can supply all of the parts required to perform this modification and will soon offer a “depot” service, where you can purchase a fully upgraded pump assembly and trade in your old assembly for a core credit. This will take all of the “guesswork” out of the modification."

Curious about a time frame. The ported engine will be here next week, but I'm looking around April for the swap.

In theory, we can do that immediately.
It has been simply an issue of Ray and I nailing down the logistics and the price point.

Ray has always been good at coming up with a price point that makes it effective and economical to let us do it instead of DIY.

Kevin, I can help you with the fuel pump swap if the depot service isn't available by then. I just did mine a month or so ago and it's been running fine so far.

Awesome - thanks for the help and advice. I will be traveling in April, so I might just pull my unit and send it to Jeff anyway. I'll let you know Shaun.

Jeff, it would arrive the week of April 19th if I went this route.

Curious what the downside is to the sealing of the pressure relief valve.

Cheers

None.
Its not sealed. Its just made to not explode from the extra pressure.

OK having not seen the assembly itself, I assumed it was a small flap that opens to relieve pressure and you were suggesting to seal it shut. But from what you have just said I read that its a cap over the relief valve ? .

Sorry, obvious really ... just jumped to a conclusion.

Cheers

This weekend I was able to put the new pump through the paces. I was able to turn as hard as I could in as many directions as possible for as long as I wanted up until about 12.9 gallons in to the tank. That is a huge improvement over the OEM where I was starving at 1/2 a tank in any reasonable left hand turn.

Thanks guys!!

What I did experience was definitely different from previous fuel starvation. Instead of just cutting out for a few seconds and then picking back up. I would get more conventional "running out of gas" bucking and on and off power type of fuel starvation that would last until I stopped to idle the car for a few seconds. Once I filled the tank back up it was fine until the sun went down.

So I think it was plain old running out of gas due to sloshing around instead of the regular, suck at sucking problem.

After some much aggravating lean issues lately and after talking to Jeff and Ray, I will soon be replacing my stock fuel pump with the BHR upgraded pump. My lean issues are happening at upper rpms while in boost so I am going to try the pump first. Car is a 2005 with 30k on it. No issues in boost down low rpm, only upper range (6-7k). I will post my install pics and a write-up on impressions when I finish. Hope all goes well.

so i went to melt the sophon, idk how i messed it up but the spring and black piece popped out <lost the black piece>. can i just plug the hole that the black peice at the bottom covers or does the hole just above the black tube come into play. i figure i just block that hole and it will be the same thing but that hole above the tube has me wondering.

The BHR pump is in and operating as it should. The problem is the pump did not correct my lean/detonation issue. I am now assuming the pump was not the issue to begin with. As soon as 7k comes around the detonation happens. BHR coils, new BHR wires and proper plugs as well as a BHR pump and I can seem to figure out the source. The BHR pump is very nice and was easy to install with a 10 minute phone call to Ray for a couple of questions. I am off to more head scratching and more diagnosing. Wish me luck.
