Sounds fun!

I guess am contrarian in that I don't care too much about piston vs rotary...I just want HP, torque, handling, and eye candy. If I could get past SMOG II, I would be quite tempted to put an STi engine in the 8.

Of course, the good thing about the rotary is it is small & lightweight so it can be put further back & down low to get a 50/50 balance.

Putting in a different engine without screwing up the car's balance will be quite a trick. Please let us know how you solve the handling & traction problems.

I'm just curious as to how you plan to actually put 1,000 hp to the ground in this car...
you beat me to that joke but actually they all run 10's (well not all of them).. not 12's...

Why....

Why would you use a Corvette tranny, and then cheap out on the motor - go Vette all the way!

"Lingenfelter" the block, it should blow right past 200mph.

Supra, shmoopra.

Obviously this is not going to be a track car if he's swapping engines. And in terms of straightiline performance it will be truly AWESOME!

I am rotary crazy, but I have to give credit where credit is due, and I believe the 2jzgte was one of the best motors ever, if not THE best factory engine offered ever. I personally would rather deal with potential issues from a 20b, but a 2jz is still really cool.

And the 2jz, if properly installed, would be 10 times more reliable, and pretty close to bulletproof; while having he potential to do 1000+ hp to the wheels.

btw ls2's are not that great people. Actually, compared to a 2jz it's really just average IMO. It would be like comparing a Cobalt SS engine to a 4g63t.

^ but why compare it to an ls2..when the new vette (z06) has a ls7? http://www.crateenginedepot.com/stor...FQuHFQodcH_v_A

i'd say this engine is a lill better than the 2jzgte...but that's just my opinion.

Use the orphaned renesis in a motorcycle frame : P

hmm, I posted in the other thread about this, but if you people really knew anyting about supras you'd kinow they deserve the status they have.

Theres a video of a 1200hp Supra (street legal) smoking a gsx-r 1000 turbo on the highway. And if your not familiar with bikes a turbo gixxer is insanely fast.

Yes sometimes it's all hp and nothing else, but it's only that if the owner so chooses. There's plenty of FD's like that, but for the most part they put their power to use.

LS2 was also a consideration at the beginning but decided with the Supra, it was my personal choice and I dont know much about the 4 rotor but i am guessing it would be really hard to get and problems fitting

The LS7 is leaps and bounds better than the 2jzgte. It's also quite a bit more expensive. LS2's are no slouch either, bolt ons and a tune is usually good for 25-35hp. Not to mention, both of these engines are lighter and more compact. Add FI, and you can have more power than you could ever want, without the extreme peakiness of high hp single turbo 2jz's.

lotta talk about the motor, but what else are you doing to the drivetrain and chassis to handle all of that without it becoming a F.O.R.D. garage lift queen ... ?

The 2jz is a good block that can be boosted like no other. This thing is going to be more for show then racing anyway. I say 2jz is a good choice if you want insane power. The LS2/7 are good and with simple both ons are even better but you just dont see that many 1000hp vettes like you do 1000hp supras (not like there that many of that either). Are the even any 1000hp vettes? I figure there are but i dont know of any. The guy wants 1000hp so why not go with the engine that is known to hit that mark. So again i say 2jz was a good choice all the way.

Craziest project to date? Not really, people have dropped 2jz's into rx7's (both FC and FD) in the past. You are not original or doing anything new, you are following the crowd of fast and the furious lovers.

"Pop the hood"
"You want me to pop the hood?"
"Just do it"
"2JZ NO ****?!"
"I stand corrected..."

Go off to torquecentral where you belong, you have ruined and bastardized your rx8.
