BTW Steve, both supercharging and turbo charging are F.I.

This thread brings up a salient point; whereas many people are disappointed that we have difficulty getting more power out of the RX-8, because other platforms can get more power rather easily, I prefer to view it that the RX-8 is one of the truest "factory-tuned" cars available. What that means is simply that Mazda was able to wring out as much power from an N/A rotary engine as is physically possible, and the fact that the RX-8 tends to dominate the racing classes where staying as close to showroom stock is mandated might be considered proof positive.

Lemme put it this way; why don't the Evo's, STi's, S2000's, 350/370Z's, and other cars, come from the factory with that additional power that seems so easy for them to achieve when mildly tweaked?

When you get the RX-8 on a track and drive the beejezus out of it, it performs quite nicely and, with a well-executed set of mods, will actually impress those who own those other platforms I mentioned.

Some Puerto Rican friends of mine once told me that they love the rotary engine because it is an "underdog". Well, the RX-8 is about as "underdog" as we can get.

The Zex 82021 series nitrous system is the hands-down best for the RX-8 as it is the easiest to install, quite affordable, and is rather nicely designed. The 55 shot is the only one which works reliably for everyone and needs no external tuning. It also works with the factory spark plugs and, if used properly, will perform quite well. I have had mine for 4 years with no major issues.

The actual RWHP gains are wholly dependent on the condition of your engine.

Included in this price is my tutoring, on-line, on how to properly perform the installation. Since BHR is the Zex product consultant for the RX-8, I am pretty sure you'll be in good hands. Plus, there are dozens of forum members who have used nitrous with my help.

In most states it is illegal to use nitrous on the street but legal to have it IN the car as long as the supply line to the tank is disconnected.

Dr. hill has a thread i believe where he explains about the use of nitrous on a rotary engine and what you need to do if you want to spray a bigger shot. my friend got a kit for his 8 and it came with a lever that he put under his pedal so at open throttle it sprays.

you can really do anything with the kit as far as buttons. Lots of people have the WOT and a button push as a double safety feature, that way they don't accidentally spray under partial throttle

The Zex kit BHR recommends activates only at WOT after the user/installer programs the electronic module to do so.

I used to have a fairly detailed thread posted up on nitrous use but I removed for reasons I shall not specify.

There is a master toggle switch which arms the system. The TPS, which is quite easy to program, then activates the system only at WOT. On top of that, we have dozens of trouble-free installations and people who use this exact system on their RX-8s. If all this doesn't convince people as to the efficacy of the system and why I promote it, I have nothing left to say about it.
