is FI and supercharging the only way to get power out of the 8

oh ok well at least theres a master toggle switch
as for turboes now, which would be recommended
i was looking at the SFR kit alongside with the Greddy and to tell you the truth im stuck
because with the greddy theres the upgrade to the 3071 but with the SFR you can choose from the one that is included in the kit or the T66 i think and the T67

The most serious problem with top-mount turbos (in BHR's opinion) is that they do not allow us to easily use the Sohn OMP Adapter, which is a nice mod to have as it allows the use of high-quality oil for the injection system, because the manifold piping leaves no room for the adapter and the wiring harness is likely to be destroyed by heat.

Not necessarily, and for several reasons.
Take a look at the actual documented and measured power produced by the GReddy kit and all of the other kits available (when they are properly tuned). The GReddy can be tuned to hit 260 rwhp rather reliably. The MM Upgrade, BNR Upgrade, and all other turbo kits seem to me to be in the same general ballpark with each other. On the other hand, I don't follow the development and progress of turbo kits as closely as my associate, MazdaManiac, does so I may be a bit off in my perceptions.
Please, somebody, correct me if I am.

im not sure how you got from my post that a push button would be easier, i think its more dangerous as a stand alone. I just mentioned that a WOT switch should be used at all times; wether you have a master arming switch, a push button in addition to that in a series type electrical connention, where all three (or two) must be engages is up to you. I would prefer more redundancy in my setup (all three switch option) but then agian I don't plan on juiceing my 8 anytime in the near future. And yes, if you have ever tried to remove the exhaust manifold or installed a greddy kit, you too would discover the significant limitations the car body imposes on turbo size.

That premise is soon to be challenged. Besides, even the top-mount versions have a HUGE challenge; the Renesis engine and the RX-8 driveline, themselves. Slapping a huge turbo on an engine is easy. Whether or not it is practical is the primary consideration.

i've driven his car while still in tuning mode(long ago on a different motor), i'm pretty sure he was still putting down less than 300 at the time. even then, it's fast - Kane's right that a lot of people here dont have any idea what driving this car with 300/350/400whp or whatever arbitrary number they think sounds good
also drove an RX-7 he was tuning, lighter car - more powerful. even just 300whp is a lot more power/weight on these light cars than people seem to realize

I go the OTHER way, have to order custom rulers with the inches closer together....
I had forgotten you were around for the FD too.... man that thing was scary esp when we got it to 19 PSI in Seattle, it was at 12 PSI in Hawaii...

I was more referenceing the setup with the greddy manifold. It's definately tight, would be nice to see some sort of setup with the turbo being mounted forward on the manifold (like a mirrored greddy setup) some sort of happy medium between top mount and low mount. Althoug knowing BHR I am sure you have already been there...
PS I gave you a ring on the telly this morning Charles, I had a giggle when I saw you were still representing the 248, cept I bet there is no Bells, Vernors, Fago, or Kogels down in Arizona. But redwings playoff tickets are probably cheaper down there; you should take Jeff to the game tomorrow and be that obnoxious road team fan.

That was you? I still use 248 for biz.
I am in CA until Monday morning and the NHL Playoffs are quite a conflict for me right now but at least I am good for the second round no matter what.
I FINALLY got HD cable, too. Now I just need a really nice TV.
