is FI and supercharging the only way to get power out of the 8

Because few people from PHX are born natives, the sports market here is really weird. Kurt Warner last year commented that most of the fans who come to the Cardinals games root for the opposing teams because they come from the fans' hometowns. In a similar fashion, the Coyotes fans are wearing all-white outfits at the home games to combat the idea that the Red Wings have a LOT of fans across the country and that the NHL away teams wear white jerseys.
The locals and media are having fun with it all, though.

What he means is that you have other mods you may want to pursue, and things to learn, before you start playing around with the AccessPort and your engine. No insult intended, even I defer to MazdaManiac with that stuff. Then again, he is our tuner and I make sure stuff doesn't break.

You can get the AP from MM and then, later on, learn a bit about tuning and then start writing your own maps. Best of both worlds.
If you are going to start modding your car I would encourage you to consider the BHR Ignition System, first, the AP from MM second, and wherever you want to go with the rest of the car after that. Those two mods provide benefits even on cars otherwise unmodified.

stock ignitions are underpowered and almost guaranteed to fail after about 50-60k. I don't have BHR's kit, I decided to do my own style setup. It works but I regret not getting BHR kit. I haven't had the pleasure of checking one out yet, but all the feedback from people who have it claim its a magical how it brings out the responsiveness and little extra power in stock engines and it becomes more important with every mod you have.

As housing pressure rises and afr decreses (like in a fi situation) it becomes more and more difficult for the same amount of spark energy to ignite the fuel. Bhr is a more powerful spark, but due to the shortcomings of the stock setup you will still see benifits without fi

oh ok, hey i got a question
if i have a catless midpipe, and the CEL light is on, is that messing up my engine by having too lean or rich of a mixture? wen i got it installed they told me tht the ecu could go into limp mode if a certain rpm was exceeded? is this true

the check engine light is just the shortband O2 sensor reporting to the engine that your cat isnt working properly (because it no longer exists) the wideband O2 sensor that actually gives feedback for close loop driving isnt being affected.

ok, well hopefully wen i get the AP from MM in a few days itll be able to shut off
with the help of u guys i can start this project and continue it the right way
the walbro fuel pump, ive heard its a great fuel pump but havent heard from an rx8 owner yet
anyone know? same goes for the axial flow short shifter, is it really better for shifting and reducing time between shifts?

Some simple facts to consider:
Mazda developed the engine to the edge of reliability. Sure there are some good tuners out there but once you push the engine beyond about 10% more power things begin to get expensive.
Its hard to beat the handling and overall drivability of the RX8. Everything has a cost.
If power is really that important, buy a used Corvette. Lots of great C4 models with under 40,000 miles for under $12,000.

I am not sure how much the walbro flows, but take a look at MM artical on fuel pump failures, there is alot of info in there, and it also gives you a ballpark on when to replace it, I know its not nessicerry unless your shooting for over a certian amount of HP

yea ive noticed tht the 8 requires alot of money for power, im just looking at minor stuff now for a comfortable but still faster than stock car now
i was looking to legit pump the power up of this car but i wouldnt now, seems like a huge risk that could maybe go wrong idk
and really, i wouldnt mind a corvette

Don't get scared away, I'm running a very safe tune with 7psi on the stock greddy kit with fixes, dynoed 289 HP with stock pump, exhaust, plugs, wires, and slightly modified coils. The whole setup cost me maybe 6k which is on the low end for FI.
CRH could set you up with a nice nitrous kit and coils for less than 2k and run it safely.
Just don't jump into anything and you will be fine
