what is the best exhaust for the rx8?

 

that question is too broad. best sounding? best price? best performance? best looking? best sold????

Apparently exhaust is now a Major Horsepower Upgrade.

Thats odd considering the most you'll get out of an exhaust is 3-5 HP. All gains are marginal so you might as well find one that sounds good or saves you weight or both.

 

all the same its all looks and sound..

 

are you boosted? if so i would look for an exhaust with the widest pipe possible. Racing beats is slightly wider than the greddy, so that may be a better option for you.

 

what about the hks

 

If you like the sound (there used to be a sound clips thread around here somewhere) hks is fine. Haven't heard it myself. Significantly overpriced in my book (but that's typical of the Japanese stuff), but whatever floats your boat . Weight is another issue. I know Racing Beat is heavier than stock, while most of the others are lighter. But alot of people like RB's sound.

 

Why are exhaust and intake questions in the Major Horsepower Upgrades section?

5 HP increase is considered major? Then what is a turbo or nitrous, Ludicrous Upgrade?
Huge HP gains are not to be found in the exhaust.
