Yeah the latency was acting weird on a few of them, I never did figure it out.

 

Tracked at PR on Wed. and it was 70 degrees. Would hit 216 briefly and cool down around 210. Mainly stayed at 212.

 

So what type of cooling mods are you looking at doing?

 

I'm not, just giving dondo stock cooling numbers

 

after looking long and hard at the cooling jackets and the way the oil circulates--i have come to realize that the oil temps are more important than i previously believed and that the cooling around the exhaust can be helped. A lot of people probably already know these things--but it was an "aha" moment for me.
Controlling the temps are critical in this engine ( duh) but also, controlling the temperature swings ( oil and water) are also critical.

 

You should move to SARXVILLE so we can design some weird crap!

 

dondo and I'll be tracking next week, what oil temps should I be looking for? I'll see if my app reads oil temps.

I really like oil temps under 200F on the return side. No matter if it is synthetic or not.
I also dont like coolant temp swings of 30 degrees F in just a few minutes of stop light driving. This is what I have seen on some others cars.

What direction will my OBDII pick up my oil temps if I can grt it to?

 

It wont you need to install an aftermarket gauge.

I did see the car in person last night. Running and driving. Sounded absolutely amazing!

 

I got to do a short ride along last night in the car. I'll let Kane, Easy, or Dondo explain what all has been done. But it was an amazing ride considering it was my first boosted RX8.
