Care to tell what is different about it as compared to your original AFE SS?

The shop is almost available to make parts for me next week.
They just had to finish a run of 185 shifters last week and there are a few left to complete.

Picture?????///// An axial blown rotary!!! Almost 20 years ago a custom Latham.
The things I've done in my life that I've forgotten about is begining to scare me.
The shifters look great but what we all want is an Axial Super Charger, is there any progress on it?
There are too many threads on here for me to read throught them all, I read a lot of the first 4-5 pages.

MM,
Do you have cameras in the ASU gym?
At least you share.

The difference is in the bushing material.
I know, BFD. But that's the real world of sales.
It's a usefull upgrade for real racers.
We use the same material as they make Merlin and Cosworth valve guides from.

I only have a camera there if I am standing behind it.

Ahh. So we go from a real firm "thack-thack" to a rock hard "klack-klack"?
I take it that bushing is pressed on? Is it available as an upgrade part to the original?

Do you get wet?

It is pressed on but you can do that yourself also. You will need to break the old one off or make a fork to fit under it. I break them off, but then again I get them for free.

By the time it is released most of us will have purchased something else, it's been almost 3 years now. Their funding must be going primarily toward something else, like Honda's and shifters or something.

Lol!

Yeah until I have some sort of FI on my car the RX-8 has prompted me to whine very much.
My whining has stopped now with the introduction of a fair priced turbo system (Esmeril Racing)that is producing the same numbers as all the rest. Thank god for competitive marketing now they all will be getting cheaper. Look at the SFR already.

Mazsport is like a mile and a half from my house, if they compete in price with the others I would drive down and make a deposit. $6500 is a big drop for them though. I dont know how much they spent on research or if they have to send out for a lot of parts and pay more than the rest, hopefully not and they can compete so I can stay local.

I don't mean to be negative about the product in my past posts.
I read about the Axial SC 1 1/2 years ago when I bought my car and I liked what I saw, so I waited for it to come out thinking it would be 6 months or something. It has to be funding, they must not believe there will be a big market for it or it would be on the road by now. Or it just isn't producing the power they hoped it would. The high rpm motor may be giving this type of sc problems. With out any info we can only speculate.

Rocket, RP posted that the supercharger is basically done and he is just waiting for the finalized engine management with COBB.

All you have to do is go a page or two back to get that info.

EDIT: Made my point, deleted this paragraph.

And after thread crapping you had best post pictures of your FI install within 3 months (6 months max) if you don't want to seem pretty ridiculous.

Yea but $6500 for the same hp as the Greddy is not reaally worth it, maybe when they release there high output version, but that might be in the same price range as the mazsport turbo and I would rather have that. On dragtimes.com the 2004 rx8 with pettit sc ran a 14.1, not quite what I am looking for. Maybe just a really, really bad driver...

I will be getting my turbo, I will not live with out a turbo on my rotary. 6 months max, sooner *when* I sell my investment property real fast. I wouldn't keep this car if I was never gonna put a turbo on it.

Whew, took a very, very long time to read all this and must admit I skipped a lot of the misc stuff. I was so hoping to finish and see how people were liking/disliking the s/c. I really am interested in this and seems like it will come out w/ a lot of the bugs already worked out (unlike some other products I have read about). That being said reality says that even after it comes out it will probably be another 6 months to a year before it is reliable enough to allow a mechanical novice, such as myself, to feel comfortable buying it. Hope I am wrong. Man I am anxiously awaiting futher word or how it's going.

That time was for an experimental version of the Pettit SC 3 years ago and does not reflect the current model. Furthermore, the turbo guys are not publishing their times??? Wonder why??? lag?

I dare say the Pettit supercharger would do better than many of the turbo kits on a track with turns as result of consistent boost. The Pettit supercharger should also do well in stop and go traffic situation, because of the low end boost its providing.

Furthermore, they are coming out with higher psi kits from the present 6psi to 10psi, so there will be more HP there. From the data, the Pettit SC should do better/well against the Greddy turbo at the same psi... Right now they are comparing an higher psi greddy kit to a lower psi Pettit kit.

Also, there is that 300whp to 350whp "barrier" which will require you to start upgrading a lot of engine parts and many people may not want to go that far. Turbos pushing 350whp and up, will require many other upgraded parts and that will add to cost.

As for price, the Cobb AccessPORT will mean more for the supercharger kits than turbo. With the supercharger kits, you should be able to flash your ECU. I'm not sure you could do this with the turbo kits, if not, than you are stuck with the expensive Int-x or have to use the Greddy EMU.

I don't want to thread crap, so I'll make just one post on this -

1. No lag.

2. Full boost at around 3k rpm.

3. Greddy makes more hp and torque than the pettit over 4k rpm.

So unless you're on the race track under 4,000 rpm, there's no way the pettit would do better.

maybe - but with all that heat built up the turbo will blow , the header will crack and the motor will overheat at about lap 4 giving the win to the SCd car .

ducking for cover now

Every situation I have seen a turbo vs a sc the turbo kicks the sc's butt in acceleration.

There is a black rx-8 with gold rims on you tube that has the greddy and he dyno'd in the 270's rwhp and he ran a 13.1 in the 1/4 mile. He even says that he's not that good at dragging and he could do better. With the pettit sc you make 188 torque, not a lot more than stock, with the greddy its 210+. Sc's run off your pulley which robs some of the motor hp, turbo's are free spinning. Most cars at the drag strip, (the big boys) are now using turbos and abandoning the sc, even nitrous is dwindling down a bit.

I don't think this is the right thread for TC vs SC.

But I do think AFE should give us some sound and video clips of their prototype in action

I was thinking that a couple days ago. I knew there wasnt a video but didnt remember if the sound had even been described. Would be nice to hear a sound clip sometime, even if it isnt the final version.
