APV and turbo

I have a mazsport type 2 and in this kit you eliminate the motor that moves the APV. Is there a certain position i should have them in? Also exactly what do they do? I was wondering if i could just take them off the intake since i do not have the motor to move them anymore.

i think it opens on low RPM or high RPM that gives you more power if you are stock. what happen with mine is my mechanic made a custom place that has a stopper that stop the plate inside, so the valve keeps it openned. you have to keep it opened. mazsport makes a cover for it, but since they are out of business, you have to make it your self

^ i have the cover for it. I have the turbo kit installed and works fine. I was just wondering since it is gear driven if when you turn your car off if you want it in the same position there as you would when driving. Since i took the motor off when the car wasnt running it would be in a closed position correct? so should i try to move the gear?
