thanks
now im pretty sure that my turbo is going bad, so i drove my car out for lunch. then i went get gas, after getting gas, i was waiting at a stop light, for less then a minute, there were a lot of blue smoke coming out from my tailpipe, as soon as i notice it, the light turn green, so i started going, then the smokes are gone.
now i really need someone who can help to install the oil restrictor!
i dont think im gonna drive my car any more before i install the restrictor!

Yeah, you have lost the bearings on that turbo.
Its really easy to rebuild, but you have to pull the turbo off to do it.
An oil line restrictor would have prevented this.

i knew i should have done that!!
so how much do you think it will take to rebuild?
and do i need to get it retune again after rebuild?

You don't need to retune, As for rebuilding... if you are adventurous enough you can attempt to do it yourself. It's not rocket science. you need to pull the turbo from the car, take it apart and replace the bearings.
There are repair kits that you can purchase.

whoneedpistons, unfortunately that greddy rebuild option isn't going to give him another 50 whp. Otherwise I'd be the first in line.

plus, if i upgrade to that turbo, i have to upgrade other parts too, like injectors, fuel pump, etc.

depends on what your goals are. If you want to stick to 300 whp, you should be OK. And you can hit 300 whp without needing 11 psi like on the greddy.

im happy with the power i have right now! but i dont mind to have a little more, so i might just rebuild the turbo, then later add a boost controller and get it tune again!
btw...the symtoms that im getting right now, do i need to get my turbo rebuild right away? or i can still drive it for a little while? cause im really broke right now!

GT28?

I thought the GT30 was the way to go?

Is the GT28 easier to install with the GReddy kit flanges?

The GT30 won't fit on the GReddy manifold without serious modification. I'm not even sure it would fit in that location at all.
If you can read a flow map, you'll see that the GT2871R is the properly sized turbo for the Renesis at 12 PSI or so.

hey, Daly city is in the bay area right? When I blew my motor I took my car to ricks rotary performance in pleasonton. He is the most knowledgeable and helpful person I know and I'm sure He can help you. Also when I blew my motor The apex seals on the first rotor broke into 3 peices and damaged three fins on the compressor fan so I had the turbo rebuit. He sent it to another shop out of state and not only will they rebuid it, they can also mill out the housing to house a bigger fan or add water lines for additional cooling. Anyways, I'm planning on taking my car there when I get back from washington for some clutch issues but If you want I can give you the number to his shop.

so is there anybody tell me where can i install the oil restrictor again?
i know i install in the oil inlet line that goes into the turbo. but i brought it into two places, they both said that i have to take the turbo out to do that, or i can put it in the T fitting near the driver side right above the spark plugs. is there why im suppose to put it? cause they were saying that they are not sure if it can hold the noz jet in place.
can anybody please tell me how?
