The iphone works with it, but you don't get all the controls.

has anyone had experience with this product?

http://www.mp3yourcar.com/product_in...oducts_id=1061

i'm 9.53. I've been through this thread, but now that I finally have a worthy-sized ipod i'd like to use it, without having to send out the unit and blah blah.

i wouldn't mind the fm transmitter, but i'm big on quality.

Hi guys, having a problem with my audio link.

I have an 2006 Rx-8. The problem I am having is that the sound plays fine, my volume adjusts fine, but I can't skips songs with the steering wheel control and the ipod does not automatically shutdown when the car stops. Rather it continues to play.

I am using a 30GB Ipod Video.

Any ideas?

(just installed the unit yesterday, could I have been shipped a defective unit? )

I have a couple of questions about the Audiolink unit...

1) Do the newest versions of these units have longer cables or is a mini-din extender still required to allow the iPod to be stored in the center "secret" compartment?

2) Some of the photos I saw show the 1/8 stereo jack splitting off from the iPod connection up near the end, which means the two devices would have to sit fairly close to one another. I plan to have a Sirius Starmate 4 satellite radio in the car and will probably fiddle with customizing a spot for it where the ashtray is located while I'd like the iPod back behind the cupholders. Is there a different cable that would allow for this? I would think I need the inputs to split off down near the Audiolink box itself.

3) One of the cable options has an RCA video out. If one purchased the AVElectronic video interface and wired it into the navigation unit, would any of the iPod menu/song screen display there or would it only show videos that were played? EDIT: I did a quick search online and from what I can find, the iPod interface menu is not output via a video cable in any way, only photos (slideshow) and videos. A shame - would have been neat to have that display on the navigation screen.

Thanks for any information.

Hey guys,
my audiolink causes my center speaker to vibrate and make an annoying kind of buzz on high pitched sounds. But with the same songs on a CD and played through the stock CD player, the sound is fine and the center speaker does not make this buzz. Is something wrong with the audiolink EQ and it's not set for the Bose system maybe so that it sends the wrong frequencies to the center?

I'm scratching my head on this one, if also made the sound when CDs played I'd go and check the speaker, but since it doesn't, it seems the problem must come from the audiolink....

any ideas?

Try changing your EQ settings on your iPod and see what happens.

oh, yeah, can't do that. Mine's the USB stick version so there's no EQ to change. It doesn't do it on every song, but does on a lot of them.

USB Unit

I've read through about half of this thread but can't take it anymore so will just go ahead and ask!
For the USB unit; have people had any success using a 2.5" portable hard drive? I've seen some hard drives that only need 1 USB connection (therefore can run on 500 mA or less without another power source) and I was hoping something like this would work.
Also, the site now says that you can only have 6 folders with 99 songs in each; has anyone tried putting more than that in a folder? I don't particularly care if the numbers on the display don't come out right so long as you can access all the songs. I don't want to have to change the songs in my car often; if I can put everything on a hard drive that would rock!
Thanks

Just installed my Audio Link with the 1/8 stereo jack. Nice! Works as promised and now I can listen to my XM radio with a direct connection. The 1/8 plugs into the audio out of my XM radio. Clear music! What a difference. Oh yea. Easy install for the most part. Just take your time with the center console and pulling the head unit.

PLEASE need help ! Desperate to find a solution...

My Ipod xcartlink (audiolink) isnt working on my RX8 2004 (Radio v9.55)

I tried installing 2 different Ipod Xcartlink unit to my RX8 and it's not working.
My ipod is only charging but nothing happens when I press twice on the CD button ... it's like if the radio wasnt detecting new the AUX.

First I thought that the unit I pursached was defective, and I returned it, got a new one and I installed it with the guys that sell it and it's still not working.

ANY idea? I even tried contacting the manufacturer in China but he didnt really help yet...

Anyone experienced this kind of behavior?

It seems that im the only one since everyone managed to make it work from the 1st time pretty easily ...

I already removed the HU twice to try it with no success ...
(Thanks a lot for the explanation and all the details on how to remove the HU and how to find the "bolt", you guys are amazing! =) )

I was wondering. How does the Audio Link sound? As clear as CD's? And when you install the Audio Link, does that take away the option to use the CD player?

As clear as CDs doesn't really apply, since it really depends on the mp3 itself.
But I will say, I burned a CD with mp3s converted to wav, and then listened to the same songs with the CD player and the audiolink.

The car's own CD player was noticeably better in certain cases.
In some cases the audiolink falls on its face compared to the equivalent song on CD in fact.

My audiolink has issues with higher frequencies while the CD does not.

Tape/MD Port

Earlier in the thread i read that for the info display to show track titles the tape/md port underneath the radio needs to be used. Has anyone tried this and if so what happened?
