Talking DIY: How To Change The Radio Console Lights

** WARNING ** Trying to recover the broken images **

Now turn on your lights.

So, what do you see?

If you did not replace your console with something else like a screen, you should see "RED", a whole lot of red lights, right?

Well, I decided to replace all those red lights.
Yeah, thats right, all the lights. (all but one light)

So what color did I choose you ask yourself.

They are now "GREEN"!!!!!!

*****The DIY Section******

(1) remove the center console
- watch this video for that

(2) now go inside and place the console on something soft so you do not scratch it

(3) now remove the 4 screws and the jack to take off the face plate

(4) remove the volume, text, and tune ***** by just pulling them forward

(5) remove all the little screws that hold down the black protective piece and the board

(6) remove the black protective piece and the 2 jacks from the board

(7) disconnect the jack to the hazard lights

(8) now set the board to the side for now

(9) remove the 4 screws that are on top and the 2 screws that are on the bottom

(10) remove the A/C control and pull off the two *****

(11) there are three little tabs on each side that you need to press-in to take off the cover to the controlers

(12) now remove the 4 little screws to take off the center cover

(13) gentlly press the two tabs/lips to remove the board

(14) once the board is released disconnect the 3 jacks

(15) there is a total of 4 surface mount leds and 28 3mm leds on the main board
- desolder all of those but only one at a time so you do not mess up the polarity of the leds and replace with the color that you want

(16) there is a total of 17 3mm leds but only 15 of them you should change because there is two that are white for the red/blue temp control
- desolder the 15 only one at a time so you remember the polarity of the leds and then replace with the color you want

(17) and now simply put the pieces back together in the reverse order

Here are some before and after pics

[B][COLOR="Red"]**** -> Where to buy the leds at

Saw them in your album, looking very nice.

To attach pictures, just click post reply, and then the 'manage attachments' button under the additional options.

Edit: Yes, please do make a DIY so I can change mine to blue! :D
