Swap a 9.35 with 9.55 HU
Yo,
I've got two RX-8s. Just picked up a new(er) 2004 'type S' trim, but it has a MD player (no CD at all).
My older white one has 9.55 w/ mp3 cd player. Can I straight swap the radio?
I was having trouble with the AC unit on the older car (no cool air), and some of the videos / pics I've seen look like the HU+AC are combined. Swapping radio to get broken AC would not be a win.
Ideally I'd get the 9.55 w/ mp3 cd player into my newer car, and plug a Grom in.. Thanks for any tips

No problems swapping them.
The HVAC control unit can also swap, so if it is broken on the good radio you can switch them when swapping radios. You'll see how once the radio is out, a couple of connections and 4 screws.
I would also check out the fix for the broken AC unit found here as that sounds like your problem and it is a pretty easy fix too:
