Sub problems, please help!

So I just brought my car back from the mainland to hawaii, and i guess somehow during transit my amp went missing.... >.>
anyway, I got a new Power Acoustik 2600 watt amp and ive been trying to install it for the past couple of days. I have an aftermarket sony double din wit sub output and i ran my rca cables from there, power ground and remote are clean, amp is getting twelve volts (checked with multi meter). However, when the amp is low, no sound comes out of the sub watsoever, and if i turn it up to almost max, its a really low amount of sound, i can see the sub vibrating, but if i get in my car, there is no noticeable bass at all. Ive installed sounds before in many cars and ive never had this problem so if anyone can help me out, i would really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance :D

P.S. 1 12' Kicker comp in truck box since thats all that fits in the trunk.... dont kno if that helps

Check the signal input level switch on the amp, it's also possible the sub is out of phase.

care to expand on what you just said? not sure where the signal input level switch would be on my amp, and what do I do if my sub is out of phase?

yeah I would check the settings on the head unit.. make sure that you have the sub output turned on, and that it is turned up.

which sub did you use? I know a kicker 12, but which one? and is your sub single voice coil or dual? (on the sub itself was there one set of inputs or 2) if there was 2, how exactly did you hook it up, Its possible that you hooked one of the coils backwards so they are "fighting" eachother

also, can you post a pic of your setting on the amp along with where your ground wire is connected to the car, that's a common problem with sub installs

Amp model number would help us too. Or at least tell us if it's mono or a two-channel amp.

Look for any lights on the amp that might indicate a fault while music is playing.

Lastly, Power Acoustik isn't known for building quality products. As a final resort, have a friend with a system pull up along side of you. Disconnect their subs and string your speaker wire over to his amp. If the sub doesn't play properly, it's the cause of your problems. If it plays fine, see if you can extend your RCAs using a pair of female-female barrel connectors over to his amp to check your input signal.

I still have to take that picture for you, but its a power acoustik bamf 2600/2, 2 channel, the subs r 4 ohm kicker comps, black cone. I did jus what you asked and had my friend with a system bring his truck over to test it. He has 2 12" L7's with a kicker 1500 watt amp and i hooked my rca's up to his amp and it plays fine. I didnt get a chance to hook up my subs to his system tho but ill check that out today. um, lets see, as far as the subs, i have them inline, channels r bridged to the first sub n then a line from the first sub to the second, but i unpluged the second sub to see if it made any difference and it didn't.... still barely any sound wit the amp almost all the way up...

Ok so we know your input signal checks good.

1) It sounds like you're running a 2 ohm final load to a bridged two channel amp. Always a no-no. You need to run the woofers in series to the amp.

2) Make sure your RCAs are plugged into "input" and not "line out." May sound dumb, but just double check.
3) Check your crossovers on the amp. Subsonic should be all the way down (counter-clockwise) to 30Hz. Slide the "X-OVER" switch to "LPF" and set the "LPF" **** to roughly 100Hz.
4) Like I said before, make sure you watch the top of the amp for any protection lights to come on. It doesn't have to be overheated to kick into protection.
5)Double check all four fuses on the amp.

alright, checked all of that, but i jus have a single 12" running at the moment to c if it makes a difference. Rca's r plugged into input, cross over is at LPF, but i noticed even if its at HPF or full, there really isn't any sound coming out...
Fuses r all good and subsonic is turned down. Could it just be that there a problem with my subs?

If you have a multimeter you can put it on A/C and hook to the speaker wires or terminals from the amp and see if you are putting out any voltage.

You can switch the multimeter to measure Ohms to test your ohm load / voice coil condition.

You can put it on continuity check and check your speakers at the connector on the box and see if power is making it all the way through the box.

Is the amp new? Have you checked the fuses on the amp if there are any that you have access to?

It should be putting out more wattage than that. Disconnect the speaker wires from the amp then test it. It should be around 50 volts A/C output.

Switch the meter to DC voltage and check that you are getting solid voltage from the battery to the amp. Check at the amp connection (using the ground and power wire terminals on the amp, with the car in the off position).

Why just dont take it to a audio shop that could fix the connection for a couple of dollars ,,

I would bet that either your sub(s) are disconnected or dead.

You can use the multimeter turned to Ohms and stick a lead in each terminal (on the subwoofer enclosure) to see what ohm load you are getting there. If it is 0 then you need to remove your speakers and check all of the connections to the box, and to the speakers.
