Question

I want say hello to all RX8 users, I was reading this forum for while/want register but RX8club always refuse my IP. Finally I use my m8 pc to register.
I will place smasung galaxy tab 2 3100 in my OEM navi hood. Just read all topic and I have some question...

I'm talking about the black gear with the white mark on it. not the white gears in the hood itself.
I have same problem
when I turn ignition key is just flip down. I spin it around black gear and get wors bacause screen was flat and engine want move down so was going to broke thes theet. I remove that small engin and check how is work, so each time is going to same postion -> so it's looks like is set correct, but why there is no any reaction for buttons. If I want spin engine again I have to twist him by myself, then after presing open button is spin one way. Experimentally on one side I take ground wire off and is same so maybe hthere is someting to do with other things...
Someone mentioned other topic about this issue but can't find...
Just don't have any idea why buttons dont work...

I can get apps on my phone to turn on with the accelerometer, but they never turn off when I flip it over (like on the tablet). Anyone know why this might be? I'm just using a basic profile that should work

Just instal tasker so have no knowledge with this app and english is not ma native language so have some treble to understand/manage right. Can anyone share some manual how to made work those command by tasker. That flip up/down looks to bring some issue (as Olorin2 describe) or is solved already? if yes how manage this...?
If still not solved, best solution will be to use charger power to manage screen:
a) when charger start charging turn screen on
b)when charger stop charging turn screen off
c)when charger is 60m without charging turn completly off

2nd Other think is to manage automaticstartup when tablet is totally off. I read in this topic about - playlpm file with one is located in “system/bin/playlpm” and changing to new code “#!/system/bin/sh
/system/bin/reboot”

But I’m running Samsung galaxy tab2 3100 with custom cyanogenmod 10.2 rom and there is no any folder like this

I found other info about boot automatically
[/FONT] oem off-mode-charge 0 and seems to change to 1 but is not the same as instruction above (I may mix some info).
Any other solution how to make it boot automatically when start charging...?

I will really appreciate help with instruction

Try setting the wheel with the hood opened. The Tilt button will not work unless the hood can open and close on it's own.

I didn't really understand tasker either. I am using settings in this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...unlocker&hl=en
to turn my screen on when it charges and off when I turn the car off. Works great for me. My tablet only looses 4-3% in 24 hours.

Sorry, I'm still a noob to android in general, my phone is rooted running a similar rom as you, but I never tried anything on my tablet.

I will really appreciate help with instruction

I think wheel is not a issue. When was spining alwasy stop as same position so when stop just place in right position in hood with screen down.
PROBLEM is that there is no any reaction for buttons press any of them.
Literally In car I have to turn gear a bit and when I turn ign.key is doing one cycle, all what he does. If I want him to move agian I have to twist gear a bit. When is down and I switch ign.key off and turn back on agian is no reaction, becasue screen is landing down already. All this is without OPEN button press.
There is no reaction for any buttons at all
I try at home so open button is probably working as ignition key (move below)
For 20 minutes, I set up different positions turn gear to left end right and if would be a problem with this for sure at least onec OPEN button should work and on second press turn motor other way (as hood is opening). Unfortunately, this has not happened even once.
Each time when moto make a cycle i try to press open button and no reaction to move motor again. Also i mark black line to shown -if I spin clock way it's stop at same point as should (correct when screen is flat down). Normalny after this on 2nd OPEN button press motor should go other way (as screen is going UP) but never happend on my test
Also I check engine wires and buttons wires and connection reabbon ALL 100% work
I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE IS A PROBLEM...I just take oem navi sceen out, left 2pcb and motor, connect ground wire between 2 pcb, set gear and all.
Don't now what could happend and why buttons don't work...

I'm curious what did you do about the gap between the face of the tablet and the edge of the housing?

For now I ran out of ideas

This happened to me too. I had to unplug the motor from the board and hit the open/close button a few times, then it worked.

You need to use "fastboot oem off-mode-charge 0" via adb in the command prompt to accomplish this. However, I'm not sure if your Galaxy supports that. You will have to look it up.

Nope, that was directed to the OP. I'm in the process of doing a similar install and there is an undesirable gap between the tablet and the opening for the screen. I'm half tempted to shave away the housing and mount the tablet in a way that the face is completely exposed.

I removed the mounting posts for the stock screen and my tablet fits flush against the back of the unit but there is a gap between the screen and the unit. I take it by your confusion you didn't have this problem.

I'm pretty sure I did some grinding on the back side of the front cover to make it flush. I know for sure I grinded down the little rubber bumpers at the top and glued them back on. Sorry it's been awhile. Lol

You can't get oil pressure, it's a dummy switch. Ever notice how it never moves?

Not sure for vacuum, I just watch ENG LOAD.

The oil pressure switch is more or less an on off switch. Note how it never moves.

^ Correct. It doesn't actually read what the oil pressure is, it just knows if there is oil pressure or not.

I have same issue As You. Was working to close but not to open...
You have to unplug this 2 wires connected betwen motor and pcb/board.
Switch ON ignition key to manage navi hood
Press the open/close button a few times, then it worked.

Just did this. Want to add that you definitely have to use a 2 amp USB cigarette lighter plug. It was very easy to do. I used scotch 3m double side tape rated for 20lb that I acquired from lowes. Worked great. Just waiting on my wireless obd2 dongle. Using the pictures it was pretty easy to figure out, a steady hand is a must if you want the quality to be good. I'll have to post some pics later. One thing I did is didn't drill the hole for the power button. Instead I left the screws out of the top panel, so it snaps on and off easily. So if I must then I can take the cover off and press the buttons needed. I don't have an sad card yet or SIM card, which I may not do anyway since I can hotspot my cell. The wire rubs against the housing when it opens and closes though. Does everyone else have this issue? I'm thinking about taping it down with some sort of slick tape. To make opening more smoothly. Anyone wanna post what apps they use? I use gravity screen and torque and dash commander. I like dash commander better than torque as far as form, won't know function until I get my obd2 reader.

Hey man, you're out of luck i'm afraid

The playlpm file is in the samsung OS only, it isn't there in cyanogenmod

and the other solution you've read about oem off-mode-charge 0 is an ADB command and the tablet doesn't support it

i'm using the stock samsung rom but with a launcher to change the way it looks. This lets me edit the playlpm file so the tablet starts on ignition

surprised people seem to be having such trouble with Tasker, i'll post up my settings for people when i get a chance

Tasker for me does the following

turns screen off and puts tablet into aeroplane mode when face down
Turns screen on and turns aeroplane mode off when up
when i open torque it starts my bluetooth automatically and when its closed it turns it off
Turns the Tablet off when the car turns off (via charging method)

might have got it to do some other stuff but i don't remember.

Tasker

Ok.

so two things, one i'm going to explain what i've done in tasker but secondly i'm going to upload my tasker config so you can just load it in if you want to... but best read what it does first in case you don't want any of it

you need Tasker, Secure Settings and maybe Busybox apps (worth installing all of them)

I don't remember if Root access is required but i'd assume it is

EDIT >> there's a second file on the next page you need as well as this file

1. Profiles

I have 6 profiles.

Screen on (if the orientation of the device isnt face down then turn the screen on, wake the cpu, set airplane mode off, screen stays on while there's power)

Screen off ( if the orientation of the device is down then, system lock and airplane mode on)

Tablet off ( if there is no power shut down the tablet)

Dash off ( if dashcommand isnt on then bluetooth off)

Dash ( if dashcommand is turned on then bluetooth on)

Power off (if there is no power for 10 mins shutdown)

(this one is just a backup in case the device doesnt turn off first time, so the tablet doesnt run out off power)

ok so i could go into how i made these if people want but i'll upload the xml file so you can load them in and have a look.

to load the xml press the settings buton on your device (or the 3 dots in a vertical line on tasker) then go to DATA then click Restore. it will be looking for the xml in the follow place

SD card \ Tasker

if you have something you've done before then you might want to backup first and move that xml file somewhere else

I use dashcommand instead of Torque so you might want to switch that, or delete those profiles entirely if you dont want the bluetooth commands.

Also this setup powers off your device completely so if you dont want it to shutdown your tablet then remove the power profiles too.

my tablet turns on with ignition and tasker turns it off when i turn off the car
