I have the Dension Ice Link plus and have not been able to get the RCA inputs on the box to work. Only the icelink. So I don't really know why they have the RCA inputs. Maybe if you don't use the icelink?

Ipod & HU 9.53 ?

Does the Neo Ion SP system work with HU flash of 9.53? If not, is there any system that works with the 9.53.

indash bose 5-disc changer

hi people,

new to this thread but i can see a lot of my questions answered. but just to clarify:

if i have the 6disk indash changer of the bose system, i cannot put any of the mp3 player direct connectors on it. I can only put the auxmod on the tape connector?

What happens if i have the mp3 player (in dash mazda original) and i want to connect another cd changer? i have read that there is an adapter which you can install and you can then connect a brand of specific cd changers (dont remember the brand, but i think its alpine) with full control from the HU. Any ideas if with the mp3 player you can do it? or do you need to have the basic cd player instead?

when i ordered the mp3 player i was told by one mazda rep that this would be an in-dash mp3 player which was going to be in the lower part (and i could still have the cd changer). Another rep in another town, told me that it would be replacing my cd-changer, but the mp3 player would also be a cd changer... Obviously none of the 2 knew what he was saying, but i ordered it since any of the 2 versions would work for me. Since unfortunately none of the 2 versions were true, now i have the choice from Mazda here to either keep the cd changer and get a lot fo accessories for free, or keep the mp3 player (and i will still presure them to give me some compensation for it. perhaps to keep the cd changer, sell it and get my moneys worth).

so the question is, which one would you keep? the mp3 player or the cd changer? mp3 player also offers cd text capability by the way!

just a note, i did not pay anything for the mp3 player, since i managed to "include it in the original price quote" but that should not matter since i thought at the time that it was a discount.

and a final one: on new mazda 5 the mp3 player is actually a full 6 disk changer with mp3 capability!!! but they did not know if this is compatible with rx8 hu!! the manuals did not list it as an accessory for the rx8. Anyone has any ideas if that will work on the rx8 or if there is a chance for an adapter that would connect that to the rx8 hu?

Thanks guys

the indash cd changer and the in dash mp3 player do NOT use the additional plug for external devices...so you can go ahead and buy the PIE adaptor and cables and you are good to go no matter what cd unit you use only problem is if you use XM radio

make sure you have the updated firmware too (ver 9.55 or higher, test by pressing Preset 1 and the text button)

have the head unit on, press both at the same time....wait for 5 seconds or so (don't count then it will beep and dispaly it, if you don't have the beep on it won't beep.

it may take a few tries, I still can't get it on the first press and I first tried it well over a year ago

keep me updated

yeah, youre right. had to press the text first, and then preset 1. 9.67 version so i guess it should be ok.

hmmm.. i guess i should get an ipod then, and forget about getting the mp3 player, right?

but from what i see those additional stuff are quite expensive, 200usd for the ION plus

another question then: ice>link plus seems not to have the model for the rx8 on their USA website. However i could find something in the german websites but cannot confirm it.

Anyone has the icelink plus on his rx8 with in dash 6disk changer?

There is also that NEO ION. Same thing, cannot confirm that there is one for rx8 that connect via cable.

Anyone knows which one is best? Anyone can guide me where he bought it from (internet copefully?).

thanks

the problem with the Denison (and the Ion is the same) is what if you ditch the ipod or just want an aux in...then you are stuck with a very expensive hunk of plastic

but if you are committed to the ipods then the you buy the pie adaptor from www.mazdaparts.com and then pic up the ICELINK for Alpine's M-bus connection

it will work but will require a bit of work to get it going nicely

HOLD ON, you mean that you still need the pie adaptor even if you get the icelink? i thought that the icelink would actually give you the connection to your box... because if you do need it (and have to buy it), then the price goes up another 70-100 usd. So that means the whole thing will cost around 300 usd, right? plus the ipod... hmmm...

perhaps in the end i will get a smart phone, connect it with auxcon, and secure it somehow to the car... it will cost the same, plus i will try to get my company to buy it for me (since i am their IT support... who knows). Then with a 2GB card, its more than enough for my mp3 needs. Plus i will have an instant handsfree. and i can use the touchscreen as the control (media player converts to a big controller). who cares if i cannot control it from the sterring wheel, or if i cannot see the tracks on the top

what do you think?

the phone idea is much better...work with bluetooth too and you'll be very happy

what service provider would you be on?

btw yes the icelink is PRICEY, but not 300, 200 something is more like it but still insane

no need for blue tooth since the line out will also send phone audio out to the rx8 speakers. The mic will pickup your voice without problems. Plus if your phone rings, it will actually shut down or mute the music it was playing by itself... (customisable).

no service provider right now, in another country (non US). Will check with my company, but i dont think they will purchase it for me. Perhaps put some money into it, but not purchase the lot... Will try and push.

Then i decide if i am to keep the mp3 player instead of the changer... Of course if i return to the changer, they will give me around 200-300 usd of accessories for free cool bonus right? so in any case my cost is half covered...

hey guys, the auxmod advanced version, will interface into the tape / md connector (as it is doing already), and will also interface fully with the steering and hu controls. Also the text tags will be transferred fully to your viewer...

that is what i got from Eric... Cool stuff if it will work exactly as planned... they will even provide kits ready made for the ipod, which will have all the necessary connectors and cradles included and ready made...

lets see how this turns out, as it looks the most promissing item. Anyone owns any auxmod advanced?

I have the neo icelink. Neo simply buys a pie adapter disables the av inputs and adds the dension icelink. The simply repackage what dension sells but sells it for 20 bucks less. That being said both neo and dension removed the rx8 version for some reasons. Some people think a new version is coming out and others think it is because of all the issues they are having. I have to say I am happy with my unit. I use the advance feature on the steering wheel frequently. Plus the ex does not flash with the neo/dension unit.

If the advanced mod from Eric comes out then it may be the best interface.

I just got my AuxMod Basic, and I'm waiting for a Neo Ion from mp3yourcar.com... I wanna do both installs on one day.
Anyone seen any issues running both? I wanna use the AuxMod for an XM input.
By the way, Eric was VERY cool, and shipped the AuxMod lightning fast, dealing with him thus far has been flawless.

i agree... i think his advance auxmod will be the best, since it will be programmable, and fully integrading with all on the rx8 (including text). he said that most probably it will be out sometime in january, and hopefully ready built on ipod connector as well, for around 150-200 usd.

lets see... for now i can survive... Most probably i will tell them to give me back my 6-disk changer, and get all the extras for free, and then wait till either new version of neo icelink or auxmode advanced is here. Then i will buy and install the ipod and get it over with. Much better than just a single disk mp3 player!

what do you think guys?
