You know, this would be awesome with the nav video input mod and the new iPod Photo.
Just think, steering wheel and HU controls to control the iPod and the iPod display up on your nav screen showing track info and album cover art! At about $850 for both the 60 GB iPodPhoto and the Icelink unit the co$t is rather high, but it would be as close to perfect as I can think of.

Yeah, I think we have nearly the same DVD/mp3 player.
It's just not well integratedinto the 8's controls, nor can it hold 60Gb of music/photos.

I received my IceLink today, BUT in the description box on the invoice it states that this installation kit is compatible with radio firmware v9.67 or higher. This sucks!

I have version 9.55 with Navigation and works fine. The steering wheel control is awesome.

Well... I tried the installation tonite with no luck. I could not get the radio panel off. Got worried I would break something, so put it all back together, guess I'll have to pay someone to do it for me.

Theres a complete guide in the first post thats linked i think. Two version of getting the stereo apart exist. You need to remove the security screw under the steering wheel panel area.

I used the installation guide that is linked to from this thread. Unscrewed everything, took off all the panels, got the right side of the radio faceplate loose but the left side just would not budge. Would it be possible I did not unscrew the correct screw under the steering column?

Yes, that is very possible. What you describe is exactly what will happen if you don't remove that hard-to-locate screw. Get your head down under the dash and use a flashlight. The screw goes right into the HU from the driver's side. The head size is 10mm.
Good luck -- and keep trying.

Could you explain exactly where this bolt is located or take a picture of it?

there is a picture somewhere, I have it at home and will post it later tonight

but really just look at the location of the bolts, and it will be obvious which one it is, it is a lone bolt not close to others, and it is holding a weird piece of plastic against the side of where the HU is, this piece of plastic looks like a cartoon snake head

also, if you have gotten the correct bolt out you could just be pulling to lightly, the first time you try to pull the HU out it is a bear to remove, grab from the bottom and shimmy it a little as you are pulling to loosen the clips as it comes out

good luck

Yea that's what I was trying to do, the right side came unhooked, but the left was really stuck - I'm thinking I took out the wrong bolt. Gonna try again after I get home from work.

Ok, the instructions tell me which bolts are not the correct ones to remove, but it doesn't tell me where the correct bolt is. I can't find this bolt, can someone please help?
