running power wire?

hey guys. custom install coming up and it will be in the custom box thread next weekend when its all finished off. but i do need to know something, how are you guys running your power wire from the batttery through the firewall? i cant find a hole in the fire wall or any good places to run the wire so it is completely hidden and still snazzy/classy looking. any information, or even some pics would be great!!!! just needing to know where to run the power. post up what you did.

thanksss~~~~

Exclamation

be careful!! i know most people don't screw this up, but it can definitely happen. I went through the rubber grommet that the wire harness goes through. I recommend using a utility knife of some sort to cut a small hole through it, and use something to pull it through. I, stupidly used a drill and ended up stripping some wire harness wires, and causing a lil damage, which 300$ later had to be fixed. So just be careful! and also u may want to seal around the power wire with some silicon, to keep water out. Good luck

check the sticky at the top of the forum- audio install sticky

look in the "amp installation" section.

you might also want to read the ground sticky too.

easiest way is to remove the window washer fluid resevoir, 2 10mm bolts at the top, just pull it up and out. there is a rectangular intdent in the firewall, with a cricle indent in the center. you can drill through that safely. then take out the passenger sill plate, and the kick panel, pull the carpet back, take the 2(?) white plastic nuts off holding the plastic plate off, pull the plate off, then pull the sound deadening material back. using a fish or something long and flexible, from the engine bay side, fish down into the car, attach your power wire, and run it through

see i also needed to do the remote turn on wire. instead of tapping into the back of the 12V power outlet, i tapped into the fuse box to the left of the drivers feet...using the accesory fuse...is that bad?

Make 100% sure that you put a fuse on that new line from the kick panel. No more than 6" from where you tap into that line.

Hole & gromet w/ washer bottle removed. (Don't drill too deep.)

2 gauge JL fuse holder w/ bottle installed.

Location of fuse holder is nice, but your line from the fuse to the battery must be way longer than 18 inches, no?

True, any protection device should be as close to the battery as possible, and I would recommend that to anyone, but this was, by far, the cleanest place to put it which is very important to me. The wire is ran in a way that it would be almost impossible to short w/ the exception of a crash. Fortunately, if this happens, I have insurance.

Thanks for noticing & being concerned.
