New amp sub install.

Just installed a JL amp and sub. I have it wired to the left right rear speakers as the amp has both hi and lo input. The sub sounds great but I was wondering if it would be better to wire it to the HU at the line level pins on the rear of the HU. If I were to do this would these leads go to hi or lo input on my amp.

Rear deck and door speakers

The reason I went with these speakers is they sound great at low volumes and really handle the stock decks power output when cranked up. they have exellent sound presence front to back and I run the fader at 0. I was leery of runing mixed speaker components and am glad I went whith a matched set front to back. The remote on the JL amp is really handy to adjust bass out put for different types of tunes.

Nice setup. I think your sound would only be slightly better if you wired it from the HU, but you'd still need to use the high-voltage input to your amp. It looks like you have the standard (non-Bose) system, and I don't think there's a way to get a true preamp signal. If you're already happy with the way it sounds, keep it how you have it, it won't be worth the trouble to re-wire it.

I installed it myself myself. One of the hardest parts was dynamating the entire trunk As for wattage I'm running the stock deck and the sub is powered by a JL at 120 constant , 250 peak. power I know that sounds lite but that single 10 booms. I think the JL pro wedge enclosure has something to do with it. If you want to check out my install your more than welcome. I live in the Laguna area. I'll shoot you a PM

Yea I did the whole trunk including the trunk lid and it took 3.5 hours. My back hurts just thinking about that install.

My kenwood 10" sub & Kenwood 600Watt

Here is my set-up that is similar to your set-up except that my amp is in the rear of the sub box, hidden but can be reach via the rear arm rest section. This one hit s nice and hard and works well with the original radio.

Nice Kenwood setup. What did you use to keep the sub in place. I used industrial 2 inch sticky back Velcro on both the sub and amp and that stuff works real good. I had to take out the sub to do the Dynamat and it took quite a bit of effort to unfasten the the velcro.

Dynamat is a thin rubber adhesive mat that insulates the trunk minimizes the rattling, keeps the bass tighter and gives your bass a slight DB boost in the car.

Where did you place the remote bass ****? I've ordered one and I was hoping it'll fit next to the cigarette lighter.
