My Radio Won't Recognize the CD Player or AUX

I've had this problem for a year now.

Basically, out of nowhere the car won't recognize the CD and AUX when cycling through the 'mode' button or when pressing the CD or AUX buttons. Even the eject button doesn't work. What's weird is that I have an iPod hookup directly to the AUX port of the Head Unit, and it still charges my iPhone, but won't switch to the AUX to play it.

I checked the fuses, and they're fine. The only way I can clear it up is to pull the cable off the battery, and afterwards everything gets reset and all is fine...for awhile.

Anyone have anything like that? It's a little annoying.

Is this only when you start the car? Or does it cut out while driving?

it doesnt cut out. it just doesnt work at all once it stops. i can restart the car a million times and it still wont work...only way to get it to live again is to disconnect the battery.

Alright, if that's the case then I don't think we have a similar issue. I was going to post that mine needs me to unplug and replug my auxmod attachment (which in your case would be the ipod aux). However if yours requires you to disconnect the battery, then that's a lot more severe than mine.

Hmm, i'll try that - thanks dills. Of course I got too impatient and did the battery trick just today...but it's only a matter of time until this happens again. I'll try that fix to see if it works.

OK i am resurrecting this thread AGAIN because this happened to me out of nowhere again.

I tried the trick cited in this thread, but with no luck. I guess I will do my trick - disconnecting the battery - to fix the problem.

What's funny about this time around was right before the CD button stopped working, I noticed that the BEEP function became enabled as I cycled through stations, when I always have it disabled. I went into the settings and turned it off, and after I shut the car off and turned it back on, the BEEP was back. All my radio stations were still in memory, and for a short time my CD button still worked...until that went too.

I think my radio is possessed.

This happened to me again. No way to get my radio to acknowledge the AUX - just the CD. If I disconnect the battery, it recognizes the AUX again.

Sounds like a dodgy AUX add-on. If you're having this problem once a year, I'd live with it. Also, if the particular aux module you're using has the ability, maybe stash the module close to the stick shift? Then when it gives you problems, just pop up the panel surrounding the stick shift, unplug the module, plug it back in and rock on.

On that note, if this corrects the problem, that proves it's the aux module that's causing your problems.

Thread bump.

My CD player is doing this to me now! Yesterday I loaded a CD into the disc changer, I heard the CD load fully then it just stopped working. Now my HU doesn't do anything when i hit CD! I disconnected the battery twice same deal. When i loaded the CD I heard the carousel (whatever its called) spin as if it fully loaded the CD and it just stopped working completely. Is it time to finally let go of the trusty 6 disc changer for a 7" touchscreen?
