Firmware 9.81 - is it possible to instal a Bluetooth/Aux Jack?
Hi everyone,
I am looking into installing either a Bluetooth or aux jack into the back of my RX8 car radio.
Problem is the firmware on my particular head unit is 9.81 and from what I understand none of the after market adaptors will work. Has anyone managed to successfully install an adaptor with 9.81 firmware?
Ideally I am looking for a simple plug and play option as I am only capable of removing the head unit and installing/running a cable however I don't think I have the skills to start splicing wires or making home made mods etc.
Any help would be much appreciated,
Thanks

I just installed a parrot mki9200 (got from ebay) and purchased the relevant SOT cable for the Bose stereo and now I get bluetooth music from my tablet and phone as well as hands free.
The cost was (taking into account exchange rates) around $150

Hey if you're still interested, I just installed a bluetooth adapter into my 04 with factory stereo bose cd changer, firmware 9.81. plug and play. works awesome, stream pandora, youtube, everything over my speakers, and phone through speakers with original controls and/or through the mulitpurpose button/mic you mount on the dash (phone answer/hang up, stereo mute/unmute, even goes straight to the google voice command on my android when you hold the button down for 3 seconds!) . I took a chance it might work, it is only suppossed to work for 9.83 and higher, but it works perfect. It is supposed to have sirius sat connection capability, which doesn't work as my car doesnt have a sat button, which may be why they say it doesn't work on the 9.81 firmware. But who needs sat radio when you have the smartphone streaming? It also takes over the CD button, so no CD, but who uses those anymore as well? Phone mic is crystal clear, couldn't be happier with it. I got the Audiovox BT100MAZ
