I need the cable... Is it still going around?

 

i have the cable i will updating this weekend

well i took out the axxess box to updated. first i went to axxess website to download the latest firmware,then i connected the axxess box with the usb cable for it, and the computer would tell me cannot isntall, so i installed the firmware that i had downloaded, and i tried to connect the usb cable again, and there it found the usb and isntalled it. was that the way are suppose to updated????? or did i miss something else beause when i put the axxess box back into my car and i hold the set up button which i think is also the one which u hold to change the time too.... i hold the button down for like five minutes and it did not tell me the new firmware version

i want to know if i missed a step or if it just my axxess box that just came out diffective
help anyone!!!!!!!!!!!

 

By downloading the firmware, I'm assuming you mean the updater software. Just as a note, I could not get this to install properly on Windows 7, so if thats the operating system you are using, that is probably your problem. I had to use my other laptop which runs XP and everything went smoothly. You plug in the cable when it tells you to and it installs the update in like 1 or 2 minutes.

When I was done I made sure to hold the button down to scroll through the menu screens on the display and the last one said version 1.5 so I knew it updated properly.

nope i did it on a windows xp also

 

when i hold down the button the last screen is still where u could put ur own txt

 

so its suppose to tell you do want to install the update??????

 

You download the software from the axxess page. It will install a program (usb bootloader?)on your computer. You open up that program, it will tell you when to connect the cable, follow the instructions, and it will tell you when the update is completed. You will know when its complete, and is actually quite easy to do

looks like Danysrx8 has the cable right now, correct? who all needs to be added to the bottom of the list? i tried to go through the thread and add people as they posted.

 

I believe we were trying to keep the list moving. If someone doesn't respond for a couple days, then the next person on the list who responded within a reasonable amount of time got it. Can get frustrating to hold a cable for 2 or 3 weeks while we wait for someone else to get around to checking the forums. I am going to check in to getting another cable to add into circulation. I will let you guys know how that goes.

 

Found a cheap listing for the cable HERE. $20 ain't bad. Once I've used the one I just got, I will send it to the next person in line.

 

Sorry mbentley, it was me who pretty much messed up the order. I did actually PM the next in line(Double Down), and still haven't heard from him. I threw it out there for the first person to send me an address as I was moving and didn't want to hang on to it while I moved. Once danysrx8 is finished with it, the order should be correct again.

 

it's ok. i was just wondering why i didn't receive a pm about it. i hadn't been checking the site daily so i didn't get the new response alert email about anyone who could take it to pm you. i've sent danysrx8 a PM with my info in case Double Down doesn't respond. thanks for clearing things up.
