Someone with more electronics experience should figure this out. We already have a thread dedicated to shipping one cable around the country and beyond to avoid spending $50, why not have one dedicated to figuring out how to make one ourselves?

I know enough to make the cable, just not enough to figure out how to design it lol... (majoring in Computer Science, not Computer or Electrical Engineering).

Hey guys,

I did some research online, and from the posts that you guys posted I have come down to this..

Were gonna need a SFE FTDI USB, NOT a regular USB Cable.. This cable has an integrated chip that outputs 6 pins, such as this image below.

Now in order for us to make a cable, were gonna need to have the wires in this order:

Black - Yellow - Orange - Red

or

GND - RXi - TXo - +5V

If someone happens to have a FTDI USB cable lying around, and wants to wire it up and give it a shot that would be awesome! I about to order a module right now,

http://www.robotshop.us/SFE-FTDI-USB...m_campaign=jos

but it wont be in till Monday or Tuesday so I wont have an answer till next weekend.. This is the cheapest method I found, so Im gonna try to wire mine up and flash my Axxiss and see if it works!

Good luck!

It works!!

The cable worked flawlessly.. I would say it requires a bit more knowledge than the normal cable. You will need to install drivers for this cable, and I had to end up bending the pins on the board a little bit because the cable I made doesnt fit in flawlessly.. I took some pics which ill post tomorrow.

Im ready to ship the cable out to the next person in line! This is what I did.

1) Plug in USB cable to the computer, BUT NOT TO THE METRA AXXESS, and tell windows to search for drivers in the drivers folder "located on the CD I burnt"
2) Install "Metra Installer.exe" and run it
3) Install Boot Updateder
4) Start Boot Updater, click start update
5) NOW plug the cable into the AXXESS box *****YELLOW WIRE IS ON THE INSIDE OF THE BOARD, RED WIRE IS ON THE OUTSIDE****** THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!
6) Let it load, and you are done!!

Feel free to ask questions! And PLEASE guys, this is NOT the normal cable.. Only ask for it if you are confident with your skills..

Write your names down in a list IF YOU FEEL CONFIDENT WITH MY CABLE, and I will ship the cable as soon as the list is ready and I get the first person's address!

The hardest part was getting to the box.. The flash took less than 3 minutes..

Sorry for cutting the corners, but Im starting a new list because this cable isnt the same as the stock one.. I dont want someone to get a hold of it and then not know how to use it, so I started a new list for people that feel confident about it..

Its not rocket science or anything at all, and for anyone thats fairly tech savy, its a piece of cake.. But I just didnt want the cable landing in someones hands and they have no clue what to do with it since it looks retarded with a whole bunch of solder and an exposed Mini PCB..

No problem, I paypal'ed tamz 10 bucks to cover the shipping. I can send you my paypal address once I receive the cable so I know your address. I can promise turnaround time will be a day tops once I receive it, so none of this one member a month crap

Update the new list for the new cable so there is some sort of order.

Just wanted to say I received the cable from Prosk8er yesterday afternoon. Hopefully I'll get it done tonight or tomorrow and will be able to send to whoever is next. Once I finish I'll get in touch with them.
