Exactly!

I'm not sure if other fixes are included in the updated firmware, but the time is definitely fixed.

Hey guys, I've read through a lot of this thead, but I apologize if I missed someone mentioning this. I was going to order my Metra kit from autotoys.com, which says that they flash update the kit with the latest firmware, before they ship it out.

Anyone order from these guys? I'm hoping if they do update the box, that I won't need to wait for the cable to get mailed to me. Here's a link:

http://www.autotoys.com/x/product.php?productid=10886

I was also concerned about the quality of the gloss finish on these kits, and was hoping I could get some more opinions about how well it matches the stock dash.

Thanks!

FYI all:

I sent the cable to Brandi in ID a few days ago. She should get it soon.

The update works gret BTW. Took about 2 minutes to download, 2 minutes to flash!

I have the matte black kit, so I cannot attest to the gloss finish unit. But I can say the matte finish matches great to the blacks around the center of the car. The gloss finish would probably look a little nicer though.

Cool, thanks guys. Yeah, I've been reading up a little more and it almost seems like Metra improved the finish on the glossy kits after some time. The first ones looked a little rough and had an "unfinished" texture to it that didn't match the stock dash very well. I'll be ordering mine soon so I may need that cable!

Brandi - do you have any pics of the dash piece?

No rush on the pic! Just interested in seeing everyone's setup. Should I just PM you my address so you can send it to me when you're done? Not exactly sure what the protocol is here...

lol yeah when I saw the address on the shipping label was pretty surprised myself. but anyways got it updated, screen is up and working now.... but there is a problem that wasn't fixed after the update and I'm starting to wonder if anyone else has had this issue?? when we installed it to begin wit (after purchase) we went to change the time on my stock display and all of a sudden my buttons stopped working. so this entire time my a/c has been stuck on (can't turn it off), my rear defrost button doesn't function.... so can't turn that on, and my front defrost button says it's stuck on (light is always on) but I can turn it off with my middle mode button. did anyone else here have these same issues?? or is there something else I should be checking into lol. just want to figure it out before I send out the cable to the next person. thank you.

You might have pinched your harness. Or Pulled a wire out from the harness.

I did that with my car, and the HVAC controls would be stuck with the lights on, and wouldn't respond to any button presses.

Yup!

I noticed that I had pulled on the left hvac harness and a red wire had been pulled out. So you need to check the harness to make sure that all the wires aren't broken or detached.

kk thankx.... one more question lol... didn't think to ask cuz I thought my settings reset on the head unit but now my Alpine screen only stays on for like 3 seconds. It's still playing music but it'll just go black, looked through the settings and there is nothing for this. wondering if the update messed wit something? or maybe it's just another loose wire lol, well anyways time to pm the next person on the list.

The radio harness has nothing to do with your hvac, to my knowledge. The update wouldn't have anything to do with your head unit. Open it back up and check the wiring. Make sure that you didn't create any pointy edges when you were installing the metra kit. Make sure none of the wires are punctured, or pulled on a bunch. Assure everything has a proper connection, and then try the unit while it's still all open.

I just went and bought a Metra dash kit and am installing it today. Should I update mine? Ive been looking for the reason as to why you all are updating and have gotten the jist of it from this thread but dont know the full reason. Is the Kit's harness messing up?

I figured it out, thanks for the info though. Guess my head unite decided to reset some settings after unplugging it or something. The visual feature was set to off lol. I couldn't figure it out cuz the "Visual" feature button is located on the main screen and not in the set-up screen.

also pm'd the next person up the other day, nothing yet but hopefully I hear back from him soon so I can send out the cable.
