To my knowledge, there are 2 main issues that the update fixes.

1) Flickering of the screen. For some reason the characters will intermittently flicker.

2)Clock barely works. The clock ends up being fast, and after a week is an hour off.

 

Hey guys, I sent an email to Metra asking if they could tell me what firmware version I have on my kit. I bought mine from Crutchfield, and I gave them the serial number (1019210D15) on the bottom of my Axxess box.

So, they just got back to me and said that I have the latest firmware, version 1.5. I'm assuming they'd know best, and if this is the case, I may not need the cable after all. I'm not sure if the "15" at the end of the serial number denotes version 1.5, but maybe others here can compare theirs.

 

The last two numbers on the label are the firmware revision, so 15 is current.

 

Yeah, the guy at Metra told me that it’s the entire number that signifies the board, build date, and version number.

So, it looks like I can take my name off the list for now. Hopefully everyone else getting new kits will have the most up-to-date firmware. Btw, Metra's customer service (at least their email response) is pretty good, and quick!

Got the cable in the mail, and set aside most of tomorrow to get it done, and then I will ship it out to the next person.

 

Quick update:
I got really sick over the weekend, and didn't get a chance to update. Not going to be able to get to it until Wednesday, which is my day off.

 

cable came in today, i will try to get it done and the cable out tomorrow, worst case i'll be mailing it weds.

after asking around i found out that the last person that might have the cable is Dirt_Nasty but unfortunately he doesn't answer any messages or anything even though he signs in on his account everyday... i guess until he decides to let us know whether he has the cable or who he passed it on to we'll never know how to get our hands on it..

 

So is this seriously the same cable from the start, or it got lost somewhere.

 

just so everyone knows all you have to do is email METRA telling them your problem and they'll email you back with the address of where to send the little box, they will update the firmware for you and mail it back.. its real quick only takes couple of days.. i did it and just installed it today.. i have to wait a couple of hours now to see if the clock stays on the same time or if it gets messed up again..
