No doubt this question has been asked and answered at least once within the 51 pages of this thread but...where have you guys mounted your Axxess interfaces? As of right now, I have mine standing on it's side behind the ash tray but I'm not sure if there's room for the lighter socket connector. Have to re-route some wires so haven't tried yet.

Hey Warrior... just read through your Metra ordeal, and glad to hear everything turned out well. I had my share of issues when I installed mine too.
Anyway, I was just curious about your backup camera. I couldn't find one that fit without drilling into the bumper, and the one keyhold style camera I bought didn't quite fit either. What camera are you using, and can you get any pics of it?

It feels like my metra kit has screws on the bottom. It isn't pulling off the bottom, and it's pretty stuck down there. I took a peek lifting up the cig lighter access door, and saw a couple screws down there. Are they holding the metra kit face on?
I'm trying to see what's going on with the temp control, since it goes all over with a mind of its own.

Was actually trying to pull it out and it went up and back out of the way all its own so I'm good now. Plenty of space back there really. Everything is working perfectly...not a single glitch to speak of.

So question? When I bought my RX-8 it came with a metra kit and an alpine 7 inch navigation/dvdplayer/radio system, but as far as I can tell the navigation does not work and the radio does not seem to have the radio signal it should. Anyone know what might be wrong? I did not buy it for the navigation anyway. Oh and also, does anyone know where the AUX port is on these type radios? They ipod cable is in the glove box and the CD player and navigation transmitter are behind the screen.
P.S. The volume control on the steering wheel is not wired in. Is it possible to do this?

I've done searching but I need some reassurance on some topics:
(My Metra box is on version 1.5. I'm also using a Metra ASWC and RCA to wire cables for the Bose amp connection. Radio is a Pioneer AVH-P3400BH.)
1. I'm getting only heat, but after searching I know I need to check out the connections to the Metra box and the circuit board controlling the ****.
2. Not 100% sure if the A/C is working since I'm only getting heat, although I do hear the compressor or something clicking from the engine bay when I press the button.
3. The defrosters and vent circulation buttons work as I can hear the car doing stuff when I press the buttons.
4. Fan speed works.
Now the problems I couldn't find through searching:
5. When the car is on accessories, there seems to be a sound like a CD being ejected constantly coming from behind the radio?
6. The speakers buzz when I open and close the doors? My installer said it's cause the RCA to wire cables we used for the Bose amp. Any solution to this?
Any help to speed up the search for the problems would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Just to follow up:
The heat/cold control is not responding for sure. Every button works except the car is stuck on blowing hot air.
I took it back to the garage this morning (after parking it over night) and everything was working perfect.
He took it apart to fix the buzzing noise (we removed the RCA cables because even by grounding everything it made the buzzing and ground loop noise louder). Meh, all it changes is the volume loudness.
But then the heat control problem came back! So yeah...
Metra sent me a document to check the solder joints on the fan circuit board, which is the last step.

Just solder the joints that's most likely the problem, it worked for me and my unit would only blow hot too.
I'm having problems with my rca cables too but only when my volume is low like in the 8 or 9 range, it will buzz and become distorted. When the volume is turned up a little louder i don't hear any distortion.
I did connect my speakers directly to the stereo harness but experienced even more distortion as well as the volume issue.
Hope you get it working how you want it!!

But it's true that the volume is greatly affected, any volume over 9 or 10 is deafening.
Gonna solder the board this weekend hopefully
It's just weird that everything worked perfectly and then after installing the Metra kit, the solder joints mess up?

My friend found a micro crack in the solder at one of the joints... Might have been the reason why it worked then stopped working.
He soldered up the 3 joints, will test tomorrow in the day.

(left side shows the current, better finish - the right hand side was the original, crappy glossy kit)

Hey guys, my front defroster and A/C compressor buttons do not work. I pulled out the HU and all the connections seem good. Should I just go ahead and solder the connections to the box?
