Ok so finally got around to getting it installed professionally as well as getting some new rims. Everything works great as far as the stereo goes, but the HVAC isn't working. I've got to make a big decision, leave everything how it is since the new set up works perfectly, or take it apart and figure out what happened (which i do miss seeing the ambient temp, and clock and the perk of having customizable text)
Do you guys know what possibilities may be causing this? Reading the instructions it seems the Disp may not be hooked up, but what other options am I looking at before I tear everything apart

If you cant see the ambient temp or the clock then you didnt correctly connect the "DISPLAY" and "TEMP" Cables, because I do believe they are the same size...Well at least I know two of them have the same "ends" or "plug ins" In the instructions it says it can fry or cause your AXXESS BoX to work improperly, so...... For the Radio/Metra Kit to work all that is need to work is the Head Unit be Plugged to the harness that goes out to the speakers.... In order for your Hazards to work (turn on) you have to connect the power plug (the middle plug) on the back of the AC control module (the center square one). I did the mistake the first time on install thing double din to the harness and the temp and fan correctly......the fan would turn on but no TEMP was working... no Hazards working.... I was like WTF!! U dont need a Double Din at all to install the Metra Kit, so take everything out (takes about 4 minutes) unplug everything and plug everything correctly using the instructions, but do it without the double din, if successful then do it with the double din. It took me 3 times to get it right....I can do it in about 1-2 hours now if I was to help someone.

Ok... here's one for you guys. I've been a member for a long time but usually don't say much, but read a whole lot and I've always been able to find answers by searching or whatever. Anyways, I just installed my metra kit and have a few issues not even mentioned! First off my hazard lights are constantly on no matter what I do, for now it's disconnected. Next, my tractions control and DSC lights were on... they seem to have gone off after a few restarts. Next, and this is the big one... whenever I come to a almost a complete stop my car shuts off. I slow down and once I'm almost completely stopped my battery light and engine light comes on... ugh. I'm about to leave work and use some vacation to get home to fix this asap. Hoping someone can chime in by the time I get home for suggestions.
I've done my fair share of installations on many different cars. I agree with everyone on stuffing all those wires back there, that's for sure! Anyways, I really hope someone has some thoughts on this. Only thing I can think of is possibly my ground not being good enough, but would that make my engine stop?! I've been through this whole thread and have searched to no luck with anyone having the same problem. Hope someone has an idea. Thanks in advance to anyone!

Ok... read a few posts up to see what I posted first. So, I finally got home and I dont' know what to think. I double checked everything works and as of now it all does, besides the hazards that are disconnected. I didn't use RCA jacks and just wired wire to wire. sounds great with minimal whine. Anyways, I drove around my neighborhood coming to stops and I couldn't get the engine to stop. It did it on my way home a few times... it's almost like if I'm going above 40 and come to a stop, even down shifting, the engine will die on me. I can restart it so I wouldn't think it's a battery issue. The rpm's just get way to low and it stalls! Any thoughts?! Help!

Zumn... not twins for sure! Mine's yellow!
Reverend - Really, I can understand that but I wouldn't have thought it would straight up and die on me when just coming to a stop sign or light! Well, I've got it all back apart double, triple checking all my connections and the only thing I could think was my ground was bad. On the other hand I couldn't see how that would make my car do that. Well, as we speak I'm making sure I have a good ground connection and will see what happens.
Any other thoughts if it's not my ECU resetting???

Ok... just thought I'd post the ending to this story, especially incase someone else has this dumb problem. My ground was not in a good place hence my hazards bugging out and pretty much meaning the box was bugging out. So, I fixed my ground. Put it all back together, after testing of course all the while reving my engine a tad while sitting there. Went for a ride and the car never died on me. Now I don't know if it was because my ECU was resetting/relearning and not sure if it was because of the ground but those are two things I messed with and it seems to all be working now! The aftermarket HU really helps those OEM speakers I must say... sounds so much better.

Ok, so I've been trying to install my metra kit/D3 and thanks to ZumnRx8 I've gotten pretty far. However, I'm stuck at one step:
So can anyone help me out here? Thanks ahead of time,
Sean
So here is where I'm at:
Spent a good part of the AM trying to figure out why plugs from the D3 wouldn't plug into the metra kit. Then I realized the connectors were left over from the previous owner; so now I am splicing and soldering wires.
My only question is how do I attach the blue/pink and pink wires to the 6/14 connectors on the OBD-II?

Holy Thread Revival!!!
So, after running this kit in my car for about 7 months now, I am starting to learn of a few tricks to this thing. First, for those of us not willing to give up our RCAs because it only had two; should your speakers begin to whine when driving, a quick fix is to turn your heat/AC on for a couple of seconds, then turn it off. While this is annoying, it is not so bad after a while. This also goes to show you the shotty engineering on the part of metra when they put this box together. Also, I have found that on mine at least, the clock will run slow 4 minutes for every hour your car is not running. If anyone has figured out a way to fix this I would really appreciate your input or fix on this. The ambient temp measurement seems to be reading correctly, if not just really really.... really slow. Another trick/solution to the HVAC controls ceasing to work (on mine it was only the top right-hand portion of the circular control buttons) is to pull the harness from the box for about 5 minutes to reset it. This only happened to me once when I first installed it. As for anyone who is having issues with their display not reading correctly, PLEASE I beg you, do not commit my mistake and forget to pull the display connector from the stock HU. This caused me about 2 hours of grief and a case of "I feel like a complete retard" upon learning of my oversight.
Having said all of this, if anyone is in need of help installing this kit and their radio. Feel free to send me a PM or post in here and I will get you detailed step by step directions for the install. I have done this a ridiculous number of times now and feel like I should share my experience with you guys. After all, I wouldn't no jack if it weren't for all the people on this forum.

I just got my Metra kit and Pioneer AVH-P4200DVD installed. Everything works great...but the clock runs 4 minutes fast...everytime i fix it...the clock runs fast a couple of days later. Annoying but at least I don't have any other issues.
I do and SHOULD have version 1.4. I mean...I bought the damn thing in 2010.

Well finally got around to doing this. It took me almost all day, and after all the sweat and blood (my hands are cut up pretty good) I got my Alpine iDA-X303 installed, not a single bit of engine whine and VERY clean and clear sound. I must say it was a chore getting everything in there, but I did, and I had to take the Axxess box apart to get it in. I would like to thank all who contributed to this thread because this was a VERY helpful resource...all 40+ pages...
Here are the pics, sorry, it is a Blackberry phone and it is dark.

Not sure on the SII question mush. If I can remember correctly, the center dash is slightly different. My best advice would be to call Metra directly. They Should know the answer to that, but from hearing some of the other members' comments about them, they can be completely ignorant about the 8's kit. The number to reach them is 1800-221-0932. Hope they can help you.
