That's the OEM iPod adapter. It's a pretty straight forward install, takes about 15-20 mins with minimal hand tools. There is a DIY for it in the DIY section. And the instructions are included...here's the link directly to rx8strakes instructions for install: HERE.

The ones from Apple on their site are all FM transmitters, and those things are horrible. The OEM one is direct connect to the factory stereo and gives true digital sound. I paid about that much for mine a couple years ago.

I had an FM transmitter first, never again. Terrible buy. Now i'm looking into an intregration. I also heard you can install an AUX box in an 8. So i'm trying to find details on both, because i'm not crazy about only controlling through the stereo controls. I'd rather control with my ipod sometimes, it's faster

IS this the audiolink ipod adapter you guys using ?

Can it fit into our 2003 JDM RX8 ? It said that the firmware of our headunit is different between car model year..

I just bought this one. Installed it today as well. Works fine but I'm also looking into how to get the LCD to display what is playing on the iPhone instead of showing just EX. Pretty nice thought. This unit charges my 3GS and pauses/resumes music when it is unplugged/plugged in. I have a 2008 40th AE RX8 so I don't have anything to worry about with the firmware. There is a thread here if you search that'll tell you exactly how to check which version you have and that'll tell you whether or not yours will work properly.
