Increased Headroom ... What options available

Looking to buy an Rx8 but would prefer to find a way to lower the stock seat before buying one. I can only fit in a Sport and don't plan to look at other models. I have done some searching but nothing really came up except for race seats which I am not interested in doing.

Options I am thinking of are below but any others please speak up. If you have done any of these please let me know how it worked out. Also does anyone have a diagram of the existing mounting? It would be a huge help.

1) I saw some posts on removing seat foam. Any success here? How much did it lower it and was it still comfortble?
2) Anyone remove the sliders and bolt the seat directly to the floor? I am the only driver of the car so it can be a fixed position. Anyone done this? Did you need to drill or can existing holes be used?
3) Any aftermarket brackets that lower the seat?
4) Any other options?

Not interested in race seats but if there are comfortable aftermarket everyday seats that is fine.

Thanks,
Keith

Hey, I know your going to be excited you got a post but I'm interested also. I hear removing some of the seat foam is a way but you have to cut the foam out....I also wonder if there's another way to do it. This could change my mind in looking for just the bases line model also....I wouldn't use the sunroof either. How tall are you by chance? I am 6"2 lol.

2) Not that I know of. Floor isn't flat
3) Yes, but not for stock seats.
4) Race seats with aftermarket brackets.

I don't know what the problem is... I'm 6'5 and I have a sunroof and I fit just fine. when I Auto-X I just slide the sun shade open on the sunroof and the helmet is a little snug but I can drive fine...

And what is your inseam size? Us owners with stubby legs have to sit closer to wheel to get good pedal placement. Add to that a helmet & sunroof and you have issues. The laid back gangster position doesn't work for everyone.

get one of those bubbles like they have at the zoo so you can watch the gophers...
cut a hole in the roof...
attach bubble using hot glue...
glue kittens around the inside of the bubble so every time you get in the car you're surrounded by a warm kitten hug....
grow shorter...

I'm a hair over 6'. On track days I have to do the gangster lean thing and torque my head over to the right to fit in the sunroof cutout. Kills my back.
