how can i add bass to my 8? what do i have to buy? but i dont want a dash cause i wanna keep the old one

 

idk i had this prblem..i dont want a aftermarket headunit or any like drilling and screwin round with my car..so im lost too

you dont even have to search, just read the stickies. at a minimun you'll need a sub, a box, an amp

 

what about the bose system? i think that i read the you have to get some sort of converter or something.

If all you want is to add a sub or two then you can suffice with a 2 channel.

You can buy it at www.davidnavone.com. But any good audio shop should carry decent Line Output Converters.

A LOC converts the High Level Signal that is coming out of the Radio into a Low Level signal that will go into an aftermarket amplifier. From the Amp you can power your new subs, or aftermarket speakers.

As far as Best Buy/Circuit City, I wouldn't trust them to do anything to my car. The biggest retail store chain that I have seen that does good work is Tweeter. Other than that, you can probably find a local shop that will do good work.

I bought an iPod adapter and used the EQ on the iPod to compensate for the flatness of the Bose EQ. Cheaper and easier than all that work of getting an amp and crap installed.

I bought mine at some online store that I wouldn't recommend dealing with. However, there are a couple options out there depending on what you are looking for. It took about 45 minutes to install and the hardest part is getting the radio out of the dash so you can plug it in. And BigPhill911 is right...it isn't going to add anything near the bass of an amp and sub combo...but it filled out the music enough where I didn't feel the need to buy a sub anymore.

Well, You'll need a fishing rod, a lure, bait, and a body of water.

Lucky for you, Bass commonly inhabit both fresh and salt water in North America. Given a day and a case of beer, you should be able to get 5 or 6 Bass in the trunk.

There are problems with this.

you are not actually adding any low end to the system. In fact, since most music on ipod's are encoded at very low bitrates,(yes, 128kbb/s is very low) you are loosing more audio data then you gain.

By messing with the EQ, what you are doing is saturating the dynamic range with sub-bass, which the speakers can't really reproduce properly in the first place. This produces a muddy, distorted sub-bass instead of the nice tight response you'd get with a LOC and a decent 10" sub. + amp.

But hey, if you're happy with it, thats all that matters. It's certainly a lot cheaper then putting a system in your car, and if you don't modify the EQ to much, it should sound OK for most music.

If you want a low end that will rattle your nuts, you're gonna need an amp and a sub. no way around it.
