I have an a Shinka and my son has an 08. His heater doesnt work either. We flushed the core and it got hot with the flush in but when we drained it and replaced the coolant went right back to cold. Think the core is bad but havnt pulled the dash yet to replace it. Cold in Colorado.

could just flush the core with a garden hose back and forth.
the pressure would loosen the build up inside the core.

I encountered the same issue as FDH; my heater got warm during the flush, but when I finished up and drove it about an hour later it was cold again. Time to replace the core? I couldn't find a DIY but it seems pretty straightforward: take the dash out, replace the core, put the dash back on. Where would I buy the core though?
